The nausea/heartburn side effects are more likely from the abx than the plaquenil - make sure you drink plenty of water when you take the abx. Eye exams are a must with plaquenil because it can rarely cause eye damage. Good luck,

I was on Plaquenil for 6 months, went off for 3 months and went back on in August.  I never noticed any side effects from Plaquenil.  I did have to get my eyes checked during first 6 months and just had another exam since I needed my glasses updated also.

Hi hezzer926.  I never had any problems when taking Plaquenil.  You should have an eye exam prior to starting it or as soon as possilbe and then every six months.  I have not heard of Babesiosis being treated with Doxy and Plaquenil.
