My son was working outside this summer and the end of July he came to me and showed me a large (1") circle on his leg. He thought a bug had bitten him. A few days later, there was a lighter red circle around the first circle. It did not itch or hurt and so we didn't do anything. The outer circle got very large, maybe 8" in diameter. Finally we decided to take him to the doctor. They diagnosed him with lymes disease. He was on an antibiotic for three weeks, but I don't remember the name of it. This last week, he has been having some strange symptoms and we are wondering if there is any way that it could be linked with lymes. Symptoms are joint pain, body aches, head ache, sensitive skin, temperature, nauseous, head ache when he stands up, tired after very little activity, "clogged up in the brain", little light headed, and chills. He went to the doctor and was told he has an ear infection and a viral infection. We are worried that the medication might not have worked. Is this a possibility?

3 weeks of meds is not enough for lyme.. it seems like those are still lyme symptoms.. try and find a lyme literate medical dr in your area who can help your son

Hi stained glass,
Unfortunately, three weeks of antibiotics usually is not enough to kill all the bacteria, but many doctors don't seem to know this. Check out the sticky thread called "The Basics." It might scare you a bit since it's mostly for people with really serious chronic lyme, but you can definitely get good information there. The first thing you should do is find another doctor who knows more about lyme.
Do you do stained glass? I do some, but I mostly use stained glass to do mosaics.
