I seem to have thrush.   I just started taking oil of oregano.  Anyone have any luck with this?  How quickly did it take effect?  How did you take the oil of oregano (i.e.  in water).  It has an unpleasant taste if you ask me. 

Any other treatment ideas are appreciated.

Hi Brad, I use oil of oregano to flush out my sinuses.

Do you have the drops of the pill form? For thrush, you can take it orally and use it as a mouthwash to kill the yeast in the mouth.
Another good herb for killing yeast is Olive Leaf extract in pill form.

I never had thrush, but did rid my tongue of yeast, I was doing something called oil pulling. That's where you take sunflower oil and swish it around your mouth for 15 mins 2 x a day. It worked wonders for me.

What abx are you on and are you taking a good quality probiotic?

I'm using the drop from (four drops in a glass of water).  I seem to be making me a bit nauseous.  I'm taking 400 mg doxy and high quality (refrig.) probiotics.   Where did you get sunflower oil?  Any others had luck with this?

Well the oil is very strong. You need to take it with food. Maybe try the capsule form and use the oil just to gargle with.

There is a very old thread on here about oil pulling. I'll see if I can find it

not that I've read it about it some more I'm not sure it's thrush. I have more of an acidic taste in my mouth. It's not yeasty at all. I seem to be over producing saliva. My tongue doesn't have any white spotches either. Could this be GERD from Doxy? I'm taking anti-acids with the antibiotics though. I've also had some minor chest and abdominal pain (which is unusual for me). I called my LLMD and left a message and also scheduled an appt with my GP for Monday (earliest he had an opening). I'm going to cut back on my antibiotics over the weekend (even though I hate to do so....unless I hear from my LLMD and he says otherwise). What do you think peacesoul?

Just to let you know, my chest pain Was from acid reflux. Treating it made the pain go away. At the time, I was not yet being treated for lyme and was not on any drugs.

I had mild chest pain? But shouldn't acid reducers prevent this? The acidic taste in my mouth has been off and on when I was on lower doses of Doxy but fairly constant when my LLMD switched it to 400 mg/day. Hopefully my GP will have some answer. Thanks for you input. I appreciate it.

I would think the acid reducers would help, but maybe it's just not enough to combat both spasms AND acid damage. I am sorry to say that my daughter and I were sick all the time on Doxy and the doctor had us stop taking it. I hope that is not the case for you. Maybe more water intake would help? I hope they solve the problem for you. Be sure to post about it because so many people have to take Doxy, and a lot of them complain about trouble from it.

Will do. Thanks for your reply. I hope that I can resolve these issues. I assume the doxy is working as I have been quite sick since taking the high doses of it. We'll see......another miserable day but tomorrow could be better.
