This is the question?

I'm 4 months into my LD treatment (Biaxin, hydroxychloroquine, multiple suppliments, etc), read the Burrascano 2002 report that said no aerobic exercise til symptoms gone. The 2005 report says to exercise asap.

Well, what is asap?  When your not tired or have major body aches all the time?

What type of exercises are you all doing?  What helps?

Thanks, Lisa

I haven't truly excercised in years.... I don't have it in me. I have a 10 minute stretch routine that I try to do a few times a day. I can hang on to the footboard of the bed for support.

A few years ago I did do daily swimming which helped..... but then I started getting sinus infections and colds, etc. - or - was on abx's that would not allow me to be in the sun. I am going to try to do the swimming thing again next summer if I'm not on certain abx's.

I think it depends what your symptoms are like now and how fit you were before you were ill. I would start with stretching and slow walking then increase things from there.

The Burrascano Report tells you that weight training is required and to avoid aerobic exercise until your stamina is improved. It has to do with tissue perfusion, oxygen levels (Lyme can't handle more than a minute amount of oxygen) and core body temperatue. It's about reversing the deconditioning process that most LD patients experience.

Ohh boy, I'm on the same two drugs and I exercise minimum of 90 minutes/day 6 days a week.

My biggest issue is having a biaxin related emergency mid workout smilewinkgrin

Why cant one exercise? Is it due to the meds or lyme? I have no dx but think I have lyme, I work out daily...

Thank you everyone for your responses!!!! They're very helpful.

I'm still pretty tired and achy most days, but just got back from Disneyland for 5 days without the total body breakdown I thought I'd have. We walked our butts off!! I had extreme leg cramps acouple of nights. But when you've spent alot of money you don't have to have fun, you push your way through the pain.

So, I guess I'm ready to at least start a daily walking plan. I think I need to get more serious about stretching too.

King, the Lyme kills your energy levels and makes you very fatigued. My stamina level is starting to increase now. I've been on meds for 4 months. But I still have real bad days were I'm totally slammed and just want to sleep and not move all day.

Since I first became symptomatic I don't think I ever felt as consistently good as when I was pumping iron 4 days a week. I had to quit when some really vicious Herxes caused me to vomit so long and hard I suffered an umbilical hernia I haven't had the money to have fixed yet. I cant wait to get back to lifting. I totally believe LLMD's that advise exercise for us are totally correct in it being therapeutic.

i wish that i could get back into my cardio routine....when i first got sick i was going to the gym in the morn but then i would sleep right after and not feel better....but i think now i mite try to do some short walks around the neighborhood or on the treadmill and try to start lifting again soon but with very very light weights...my body is so achy and my knees hurt so much that its hard to exercise.

but i do believe that a lil stretching and short walks can help us mentally and physicly....just dont over do it and listen to your body :0)
