I will be starting treatment for long standing (14 years) Lyme on Dec. 3 once all my tests are in.

Does anyone have a great probiotic to recommend?

Has this been a huge problem for most of us ladies? (I know guys get yeast infections, too but it seems more obvious and inconvienient for us.)

Has anyone not had this be a problem?

I am making a list of meds and concerns or options to bring to my next appointment and am trying to cover all the bases.

Thanks for any advice!

~Kitty

I have been on antibiotics for approx 1 1/2 years and have gone on a very low carb diet and didnt need any probiotics besides for the first month before I started my low carb diet

Thanks.

How great for you. It gives me hope.

Does low carb include complex carbs at all?

Almost from the very beginning (8 years ago) I have taken some form of pro-biotic daily. I take otc Acidopholus, I drink Dannon immunity shots, I eat yogurt and frozen yogurt... I try to do at least one of these each day, many times I do more than one. I have only had one minor yeast infection that I was able to cure with an otc product. Hope this helps.

Great!

I have already started to take a probiotic (acidophilus) this week. Hoping to get a jump on it. I just got over a stomach virus, so I am sure that didn't help. shocked

Thanks so much for the feedback.

Ive been on ABX for over three years - never any yeast issues : take acidophilus intermittently : but saccromyces boulardi ( the "yeast against yeast ) continuously : trade name "Florastor " .

Hope this helps !

Awesome.

I haven't heard much about Florastor. I will definitely check it out! Thanks.

I had HORRIBLE yeast problems that came up after 1 year of treatment and was put on Fluconazole. My doc said that candida is a big problem, especially with women, after they start antibiotic treatment. I had gone off my probiotics and that was why I had such trouble after a year. I am still taking antibiots but now staying on probiotics and eating a lot of yogurt too!!
take care,

I have never had a problem with the yeast issues. Odd really. And at the clinic that I al doing in Scottsdale I am nor allowed Yogurt...odder no?
Read the book the cure unknown by pamela winetraub, she goes into great detail about all the drugs out there and what worked and what did not for her and her whole family.
Personally the abx did not work for me. I did them till I was bleeding like crazy. I am now trying the homeopathic meds. And I do feel an improvement.
Some of the things that have been around like colidal silver are making some changes for me. I don't know if drinking it makes a difference I am getting in put into a port into my chest.
