My 4 year old son started Mepron about 3 weeks ago and ever since starting it, his behavior has gone from bad to worse. He has actually hit me and kicked me once. He talks back constantly and if he is sent to his room, he screams all the way there and then slams his door.

about 4 pm every day, he becomes even more manic than he is the rest of the day (perhaps he is more hungry and tired at that time). At the dinner table, he is always trying to touch or poke others or sing or talk loudly or bang the table. Of course, his twin brother laughs at him and his 2 year old sister copies him. It becomes complete chaos. I end up screaming to get them quiet and often have to send the manic one to his room several times.

Some days are worse than others. I would think my son had ADHD if he didn't have Lyme. I just hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. I haven't really seen an improvement in the 3 weeks that he has been on it. Sometimes I wonder if this is a side effect from the Mepron.

By the way, on the second day of Mepron, my son started having night sweats every night. He also has complained of headaches more often than prior to treatment. But besides the behavior, he rarely complains of physical symptoms.

Thanks for any input you have on this.

tickbattler,

I am sorry that you and your son are going through this. I have been told by parents that their children became agressive, deprssed, angry, you name it on Mepron. I am in my 50's and noticed that I became irritable and felt very mean on it. Others on the site have posted that they react to Mepron as well.
