I weird, but intense tingling in your ears canal -- more toward the outside versus deep in. I find myself rubbing at my ear canal to try to stop it, but I can't. Pretty much just one ear most of the time. It gets more and less intense and comes and goes. I would say its "kind of like" vicks vapor tub in the ear. It must be a nerve thing...

Sorry that is "A weird" not "I weird"

Sounds awful. Haven't had that one. Hope it's just a passing fancy.

I have had that, and continue to have it after years of treatment. The outer rim of my ear lobes also get bright red and burn hot, as if being blow-torched.

I've got that itchy feeling deep inside my ears too.

I told my doc, but he believes it's an allergic reaction.

I think its Lyme because it started as my first symptom...

It was one of my first symptoms too, and the most persistent, after 4 years. And I had no prior allergies (I know they can come on at any time). I also started getting this symptom in early January, so it would have had to have been some sort of food allergy or dust/mold. I was tested for allergies, found none. I also tried all kinds of different diets, was on all of the rx allergy medicines--no relief at all.

So it may be that it is certainly an immune response, which is what an allergic reaction is, but to what would be a normal circumstance for you otherwise. You can have an immune response to change in temperature, touch, common allergens, etc., and in a lyme weakened state, your immune system just fires away at the slightest provocation, including the die off of the Lyme bacteria itself, which if your load is heavy, it can be a daily occurrence, as it was for me. NOw that my load is way down, it happens much less.

I personally think, given my later CNS symptoms, problems with eyes, ears, face, etc. indicate an invasion of the bacteria in your sinus and auditory canal areas, which of course can lead to future invasion of the brain and cervical spinal cord. This is what is theorized to happen to me.

Best,

John

When I was sickest and had vertigo and ataxia, I had similar feelings in my ears as what you describe. It felt like something was crawling inside and would also tingle some - once a stabbing pain. I think it is neurological - something affecting the nerves.

Absolutely nerve related. The inflammation impacts the facial and cranial nerves and thus all those strange feelings. I also had vertigo, ataxia, and tinnitus, along with twitching in that region, as well as horrible headaches.

You know I think I get similar sensation on my legs sometimes, a patch that tingles (I want to say buzzes but its not a noise, but rather a sensation). Same with my ear....

Anyway, good to know I am not alone. Its not itchy, just annoying!
