The utility company that I work(ed) for gave me numerous pieces of safety equipment (special boots, clothing, reflective vests, etc) and many safety lectures. My job was to walk along power lines to inspect them, through all kinds of terrain yet, they never told me about Lyme, -- Nor did the local public service organizations. The only thing I heard, before I got infected, was that Lyme was a simple disease to treat -- like having the flu.

I am not one to jump to petty lawsuits. But, here I sit at week 9 -- After of 7 weeks of insufficient treatment, after many days of research to find a doctor that knows anything, after many days of feeling like _ _ _ _, after my employer questioning why I am not well yet -- and to top it off I am terrified every time I think about going into the woods.

-- So I'm thinking that the threat of a lawsuit might bring about some awareness.

Anyone have any thoughts or references that may help???

If you are willing, see a lawyer. You may stand a better chance than suing ignorant doctors. They're very well protected.

I think we need to get angry! But also if you decide not to, my llmd says to channel that anger into finding your own cure. And since there's no &*(&)*) research on Lyme, it is a customized cure to be sure.

I'm looking at your regimen and I must say I'm IMPRESSED. You stand an excellent chance of recovery.

Stay hopeful woodswalker. We're rootin' for ya!

Oh and I had the fear of hiking - my fave pastime! Get some deep woods DEET. This time of year I read the ticks love to live in those fallen leaves. Don't leave home w/o the DEET. I have some in my car too and people think I'm insane. I don't care. Rather be OCD about protecting myself than get bit one more time. Nasty ^&* ticks!

Anyway, the fear goes away in time. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND.

Hi woodswalker,

Were you actually fired from your job because you are sick?  In my opinion, you will not bring lyme awareness by starting a lawsuit (I doubt any attorney would take this suit anyway).

Also, do you really think you need the added stress?   Stress weakens the immune system which can make you sicker.

Just my opinion,

Denise

It would be hard to prove negligance on your employers part. I had a friend that complained about a lump in her side and was told by her internist for FIVE years it was a hernia. She finally insisted on removing it and she had Hodgins Lymphoma, no hernia. She hired a lawyer and you would think "no problem" but she LOST. Said the doctor was NOT negligent. Go figure.....its not easy.

Go for it Wood!
But you must know, that your ability to handle stress gets much worse as time goes by, and it could very well make your progress much worse.
Your sound like you are on a major dose of abx...wow...you have a very aggressive Dr.!
I am curious who are you going to.
You can tap my letter and tell me.
Gosh everyone should go to your guy.
Get better, then sue the guy. Or go to your local paper and get a story.

Sue away.... it's the only way we're going to get recognition. I honostly believe that within the next 2-10 years we'll have a class actionlaw suit against each individual member of the IDSA Lyme disease panel. I also believe we'll win!

Woodswalker,

Check into Premethian (sp?) you spray on clothes not skin and it kills ticks on contact.  Try sporting goods store.

Sign me up. ID docs are dumb and the world needs to know just how dumb they are. They should lose their MD licenses

Where do we find a lawyer to take this on? I AM READY, WILLING and ABLE...Even in my weakened shaky state.

I've ben bugging the sh%^ out of my nephew - he just passed the NY state bar - and works for a firm in NY that handles class action lawsuits. I send him the info and tell him that this will make him famous.... and an immediate partner in his firm. I also tell him that if he doesn't do it, someone else will. I have a very teeeeeny tiny connection to one of the lawyers that won the tobacco lawsuit thingy... I have actually made 2 calls to his office - un-returned, ugh.

I don't know, you'd think someone would be all over this.

Rock on JELAINEP. Tell me if there is anything I can do.

I am going to write a letter to several lawyers next week if the brain fog allows...

JELAINEP -

Can you explain how this would work?

Who are we suing and why? (Sorry, my brain needs basic information to put this together.)

Hopefor a cure
