My LLMD had me on 3 weeks of Mepron only and 1 week off this month for Babesia.

In October I tried taking Mepron with 600 mg of Zith and had terrible tachycardia and pain around my heart.

She does not want to put me back on Zith again for now and I am to do another round of 3 weeks on and one week off of Mepron.

Has anyone else made it though Babesia treatment this way? Is it effective?

Thank you!

Malarone seems to have some indications for being more effective for Babesia than the Zith/Mepron combo.  you don't need to take it with the Zithromax, just the Malarone pill.  I have been on it one month with no sideeffects at all.  It contains the active ingredient in Mepron plus another anti-babesia drug in a hard pill form.  (no yellow paste liquid).

did you try to take biaxin with the mepron? maybe you will be able to tolerate the biaxin better than the zith.

Thanks everyone. No she will not let me try Biaxin either because she feels it is in the same class of drugs as Zith.

Should I demand malarone?
