I too have an a new patient appointment with Dr. S in Howell NJ next week. I'd really appreciate any info/advise you have. Also Chris L, if your appointment is before mine please let me know how it goes! I hope it goes well.

1. Does he do IV antibiotics?
2. Does he test for coinfections?
3. Any other helpful information?

I see Dr. S. He is a good Lyme doctor. He knows his meds very well.
He is a bit quiet and you need to ask him a lot of questions, he will answer all of them. He also will return all your phone calls himself. The office staff is really good and caring also. Some of the girls are also being treated for Lyme by Dr. S and they all say they have either gotten better or feel better then they did. I know a few people who see him, One lady couldnt even walk and now she is walking and teaching again. I know for myself He has been getting me better. I think you will be happy with him.
Good luck to you.

I will definitely share my experience if I see him. I spoke with his office when I set up the appointment and they seemed "iffy" about him using IV ABX, but they did say he use them. But given ria123's account, I may have to cancel my appointment. Lyme has affected my digestive track very badly and I have had very bad results using oral ABX, so I only have IV abx as a choice. Its a shame, because everything else I have heard about Dr S. is very good.

Hmmm...I too was discouraged by the idea that Dr. S. may not do IV antibiotics. Everything I read said Dr. S. treated aggressively. I will keep my appointment, but if anyone else knows of any other great LLMDs in NJ that do do IV antibiotics please let me know! I am currently not driving, not working and really would like to start having my normal life back. I live in VA but seems like the wait time to see LLMDs here is very long.

I would keep that appointment.  I spoke with his office again today and they told me that he does treat with IV ABX when needed.  Personally, I wanted to do everything possible NOT to take IV ABX, but now I have no choice.   If it wasn't for my GI issues I would give orals a try for atleast 6 months.

I was glad they reassurred me.  Dr. S comes highly recommended and I didn't want to loose out on a chance to see an excellent LLMD.   I will let you know how the appointment goes.

Here's the update.  I had my appointment with him today.  He is quiet and gets down to business quickly.  He doesn't spend a lot of time getting history or asking questions, even for the first appointment.   He also practices holistic medicine, something I did not read about on any posts or reviews about him.  I still left with the impression that he would prefer to stay away from IV treatment.  His office did have a number of patients in it when I left, which is typically a good sign.

Hi Chris,

I appreciate the update you provided. Would you be willing to accept a phone call for me to ask additional follow up questions about your experience? I'd be so grateful for your assistance as a resource before I head to my appointment. Please email me if this is soemething you'd be willing to help with. (bbellur@gmail.com)
Typing is not the easiest for me right now.

I tried using the "send email" button on this forum but received a message undeliverable error. Most likely a user error on my part--i've never tried it before.
