Raw Food Detox

A few weeks back I told the board I was going to do a raw food diet/detox and I would report back.  Here I am.   I was on doxy for 8 weeks and now minocycline for 16 weeks.  Curious to understand and learn more about nutritional outlets I did a raw food diet/detox for 1 week.  While this exercise did not get rid of my bacterial infection (lyme), it was a positive experience.  I did feel some herxing although it can be hard to determine the difference between a herx, a symptom, or a side effect.  Basically, I ate a fruit smoothie every morning, a salad and vegetables for lunch, and another salad and veggies for dinner.  Some interesting results were that I now continue to watch what I eat (eliminate sugars and flour).  Also, I've lost about 20 pounds over the last 3-4 weeks.  31 year old male weighed 180 lbs.  Now weigh 159 lbs.  I would never have done something like this if it weren't for the motivation to fight lyme. 
In conclusion, I realized that killing an infection of this nature can be aided by a nutritional overhaul.    Any questions, feel free to hit me up..

Chief, as someone who is working on a naturopathic cert and someone who is ill, I can tell you, Diet is 90% of the battle. Very few peole want to acknowledge this in their healing.

Very cool that you did this. I think raw food is not easy to digest but it's a great way to get some very needed nutrience.
Have you tried juicing?

I think eating some clean proteins is VERY important as well in keeping the cells active and the immune system active.

Losing 20 lbs is a dream for heavier people, but not so great when you're body is trying to heal

Thanks for your response and support. 

I'm trying to gain that weight back with healthy stuff.  I learned alot from this exercise and I think I'm in a good position to continue with what I call a "nutritional overhaul".  I am definitely adding back in the protein.  Juicing?  I'm not sure what you mean by that.. but I do juice natural fruit smoothies 4-5 days a week.
