i was just wondering  I have had a cold for 4 days now and i went to the dr and its not an infection but can a cold affect my lyme at all. I have been doing very well with my lyme since i have been on the right combination of meds. But can my cold bring my amune system down and affect the lyme? and can it take me longer to get rid of a cold cause of the lyme?

thnanks jennie smurf

Jennie48,

I have a cold too. :( Yuck. I'm not sure I can answer your question. However, for me it doesn't appear that the cold is making my LD worse (so far). Although, the additive effect of dealing with LD and a cold is no walk in the park. Hope we both can kick it SOON! :D

I had a cold and recovered much faster than I normally would, probably because of the huge amount of vitamin C I am taking as well as the herbs to boost my immune system.

Sorry you are not feeling well.

I question what you say "drinking a lot of OJ" -- it contains a lot of sugar.
My doc has me off of sugar since it only feeds the bacteria. Oranges are off my list.

Can you take C tablets?

i forgot that sugar wasnt good for lyme but i havnt had any problems...but i do want to get some c VIT. when I can get sum extra cash. I am pretty much better now but i still have a bit of post nasle drip still and i was getting my energy back b4 i got sick and today was the first day in a months that i couldnt sray awake and had to take my afternoon nap b4 work....... i guess my lyme isnt completly out of my body...
even tho my ached and pains have gone away....today i was tired and had a bit blure vision at work and couldnt wear my glasses...i think that my cold broke dwn my amune system and wore me out again and made my lyme bother me.....

It does worry one when you're sick w/ Lyme and then get a flu or something that makes you go off the medications. You hate to undo the good work that's been done.

I had this happen and was amazed at how well my immune system works these days. I was over it and back on medication and feeling much better in no time.

I bet you will too.
