My test results still aren't back, it'll be 3 weeks tomorrow. I went to my GP today, 'cause I need to get this ball rolling, I'm sick of waiting and getting worse. I brought my husband with me today, 'cause my last appointment was brutal. My Dr insists that I'm just depressed! I was glad that my husband was there to tell him that until I got sick, everything was great and we have a wonderful life. The Dr said that Lyme disease is rashes and joint pain and I wouldn't be sick 2 years after my rash. I told him to look through his notes, I'd been there many times for various lyme like symptoms for 2 years! This is so frustrating! I gave him the name of the LLMD near by and he finally agreed to send a refferal. Maybe I can finally get some help!

Sounds like the doctor I saw here in Texas that told me I couldnt have Lyme because I was in Texas and didnt have a "rash all over my body." Sad, they just dont know better..good luck-at least you have a LLMD, there are none here.   D

I find it odd that we apparently don't have Lyme in Canada, but we have Dr's who specialize in it and have a Canadian Lyme Disease foundation. Weird! What is wrong with the medical community? Dowa, what are you going to do about a Dr? That's scary!

Just love it when a doctor says they don't have Lyme in Texas, Virginia, Georgia or Tennessee but then acknowledge they do have it in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Massachusetts.

You see ticks know ALL about state borders and boundaries. They send away for an atlas, study it and then obey these doctors' orders!

It's good to bring a witness along to your doctor appointments. No one was believing me when I would describe how horrendously I was being treated. Then, my husband started going with me. He can't believe how I was treated. I always bring him with me to meet any "new" doctor.

Man, we had a huge learning curve with LD and the medical system. I was told for 13 months straight that I was severly depressed, all my symptoms were "in my head", since I was depresssed, etc. etc. my pain was "exaggerated". And then I tested positive for LD. Man oh man I wanted to go back to every doctor and say "IN YOUR FACE" (well, I would have worded that stronger, but the moderators are on me like white on rice).

THEN - I got the run around of infectious disease doctors and rheumatologists saying that my test results were a "false positive" - HUH?

We can't win with this disease. And the prize if we do win? Antibiotics. It makes no sense. Before testing we're all depressed and psychosomatic... after we test positive, they're "false" results..... Like we're going to say, "You know what Dr.? You are right. I am very depressed... these symptoms are made up. There is NO WAY those test results are correct. Please prescribe psychiatric medications for me... see you next month!"

You probably are depressed......because you are sick and in pain.  Unfortunately, doctors will diagnose you with depression because they aren't sure what is really wrong with you....and doctors are too arrogant to admit they don't know what is REALLY wrong.  I was diagnosed with depression by several doctors including an infectious disease specialist.   Each time I told them "you would be too if you felt like I do".   Morons.   I'm glad you are going to see an LLMD.  I hope you can get an answer soon.  Hang in there.

Thank you everybody for your posts. It's nice to know I'm not alone, however, it's absolutely ridiculous that anybody has to go through this! I can't believe this is all about antibiotics. I know people who've had an easier time obtaining an RX for medicinal marijuana! I know people who've been on long term antibiotics for acne. The Dr is quick to perscribe anti depressants....I need antibiotics, what's going on here?

I will be bringing my husband with me to my appointments from now on. I need a witness and an advocate when I'm too appauled to say anything. Until recently, I had no idea what people with lyme had to deal with. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I was beginning to fear I had Lymphoma before a co-worker suggested I look up Lyme symptoms. I was happy for a minute that it wasn't cancer, but that was short lived. People with cancer get treatment...immediately. Not that I would want any of this. I just want my symptoms to be aknowledged and I want treatment, so I can be myself again. I'm now a shell of my former self.

Anyway, thanks again. T

And if you did have cancer, no one would say to you "oh, my dog had that" like I heard.

I think we all just need a little respect!
