I was diagnosed with lyme (positive IGM, negative IGG).  I read the article that said that a positive IGG is the real marker?
Anyways, I am with a lyme doctor and just started IV Rocefrin this week. Prior to that I was on Biaxin for 2 1/2 weeks and prior to that Bicillin injections for 2 weeks.  I had an increase of symptoms with the Bicillin, horrible, freaky brain fog.  On Biaxin, more frequent headaches and then more weakness in my arms esp. my fingers.  Now on IV I have the same weakness, increase in vibration/tingling all over my face, my legs, my hands.  Also, horrible increase in anxiety since the bicillin injections.  My symptoms have been neurological - tingling, numbness, vibration, muscle twitching, headaches, neckaches.  I had all the neurological tests MRI head/neck and lower back, EMG.
Question, I feel like I am getting worse since being treated.  How do I know if this is normal for lyme patients?  Is it the herx or am I not really responding to treatment?  I feel like I've got toxicity going on in my body.  Add to it all the info. you read and it makes you question everything.
Any input/advice would be helpful.

Kelly 1234,

I am wondering why you are switching drugs so often. Usually llmds keep a person on a least a month to see what die off is occurring. And if it shows good herx or improvement they keep you on it for awhile. I had good lyme drugs and had some improvement yet kept getting worse in some other areas. I am also dealing with a coinfection. A type of bartonella that testing doesn't exist for apparently. Read up on coinfections especially babesia and bartonella. Just because the coinf tests come back neg that DOES NOT mean you don't have one. Go by symptoms more. Those tests are horrible. They test for only a few of the many strands out there.

Hi Kelly,
Firstly, welcome to this forum!  Secondly, I am so sorry you are feeling badly.  In my opinion what you are experiencing is an overload of toxins that are released from the lyme bacteria die-offs.
Have you read the Detoxing Post in the Newbie Thread on top?   I have been better for over 3 years now after being sick with lyme and ehrlichiosis for over 10 years.  What got me better was not antibiotics but Dr. Jernigan's protocol which is all natural.
Most chemical antibiotics are actually made from plant materials so I decided to skip the chemicals and go right for the botanicals that Dr. Jernigan tested and then created.
Learn as much as you can, read as many books as possible.  I suggest "Healing Lyme" by Stephen Buhner ( and Dr. Jernigan's newest book "Beating Lyme" which can be bought at:
Detoxing should be given at much attention as the medicines themselves (that includes the detox baths, dry skin brushing, foot baths, exercise, and lots more).
Hope this helps and that you feel better,
It's all about the Immune System mixed with a large dose of Positive Thinking and Daily Detoxing
This song is about my years with chronic lyme since 1995 and being in remission for over 3 years:
