i am wondering how many here have developed a heart arrythmia due to lymes. i have a psvt, which started after i got sick. i also have really severe pvcs, and inappropriate sinus tachycardia. my heart issues are definitely the worst.
for those who have developed arrythmias, did they clear up with treatment?

I did as well. I found out I has a heart murmer and mvp along with my lyme diagnosis. 10 years later I still have it, but a non-issue really. Never a problem. I get heart racing and palps a lot, but nothing bad happens. Just annoying is all.

My heart does all kinds of crazy things, irregular heartbeat, first  it beats too fast and  then sometimes too slow, and I get chest pain. Stress tests and EKG are always normal.  Lyme, I guess...it ALWAYS scare me...

Jemini: May I ask you, what test do they use to diagnose MVP?? Thanks- D

I had heart block when I was diagnosed with LD and had pals that cleared up with treatment, I recently had a hyperactive thyroid and the palps came back, along with fluctuating blood pressure and I hate it, how do you deal with the high pulse with out it driving you crazy, it make me feel exhausted and I am diabetic and my sugar levels go down so I need to make sure to eat if not I start shaking

hi judy-
the racing heart and palpitations (pvcs) drive me crazy too. i find them to be the most uncomfortable of my laundry list of symptoms. i have a psvt, which is a sudden, out of nowhere, speeding up of the heart. mine will go from about 70 to around 190 in seconds. it inevitably causes a panic attack, which i cannot help, until it stops on its own. i can no longer do any physical activity, even on the days that i feel like the rest of my body would allow me to, because i am so terrified of the heart arrhythmias.
i take beta blockers. i have been on them for about six months, and they have helped a great deal. my resting heart rate, which had been close to 100, is now around 70. i have less pvcs and the svt is less frequent. but still occurs.

I get it too. I wonder if it's a side effect though of biaxin. I'm on it and it has really helped me with the memory issues. But I suddenly get those heart palpitations too since starting it.

Anyone else on Biaxin? Anyone else on something that has the racing heart side effect?

I hope it's not the LD but the Biaxin...

Before I was dx'd with Lyme, I was on Biaxin for a sinus infection in all of my sinuses (CT scan swhoed it).

The rx was for 3 weeks and for 2 weeks I was fine. At the end of week 2, I had a racing heart upon waking (120) and I stopped the med. I was OK after that.

My LLMD just said that it could have been a herx reaction. ( I have had bad reactions to other abx as well)

I did read a bit about Biaxin and heart issues at the time- 4 years ago, so it could be the med itself.
