She had Lyme if she had the rash. Period. 30 days may not have been enough. My daughter had a rash and only 2 weeks of amoxicillin, so I wonder....

Anyway, by taking the antibiotics at the first sign (which is the right thing to do) the antibody resonse is usually blunted. That is likely why only a few bands are showing up positive. Also, some bands may remain positive for a long while after treatment.

Here is an explanation of what the bands represent:

What symptoms does she have?

Thanks!

At this point no symptoms at all.

When we did test her she had some stomach issues which resolved by themselves and it came out to be a stomach bug since all of us got it after her.

Otherwise she is fine, eats well, lots of energy, doing fine at school.

I wonder if this test shows active Lyme  should we treat her even with no symptoms?

I am afraid to wait......

How is your daughter doing?

My daughter has the rash when she was still in diapers- before 2 I think. She is now 10. She had 2 migraines with "aura" and had knee pain and tendonitis in her ankle (which I associate with horseback lessons).

I will eventually talk to my doctor about my kids. My son has had ticks, removed before engorgement. He has had 2 dizzy spells.

Do you have a LLMD you can consult? Better safe than sorry. Then again, some people are better able to fight off this disease due to a strong immune system.

Hi kitty! Just a quick note to let you know my daughters symptoms really ramped up at puberty and continued to get worse. That is what made us really fight hard to find out what was wrong with her. At least you know what to look for and test for if she does not seem to be well again. Best wishes to you and your family.

Hi Mixa! I am happy your daughter is doing well and I hope it stays that way. I don't think docs know yet if lyme is cureable or if it only goes into remission, only to rear it's ugly head again later. Best wishes to your family.

hi mixa! do I read your daughters results right by assuming that in igg bands 30 and 41 are positive an no bands in igm? did she get the abx directly after the tick bite? how high was the dosage?
to me those results and what you write (that there are no symtoms right now) can also indicate that her immune system was successful in getting rid of it;
can you see a ll doc and ask him?

Hi.

Thank you all so much.

She started abx approximately 7-8 days after bite.

She was on amoxi 40mg/kg/day for 30 days.

Dorit , I hope that you are right and that her immune system was successful in getting rid of infection.

Thanks, Bablymers. I am alert to it! If she had longer then 10-14 days of abx, I would worry less...

mixa- sounds like she may do ok. If you can, I would seek out the opinion of a LLMD, just to put your mind at ease.
