it seems that the llmd's in my area do not accept insurance. i don't think i could easily spend that kind of money to see a doc at this point. especially because all my savings have been spent to see the multitude of doctors over the last two years.
so i am wondering if my PCP could do an igenex test himself? he is not lyme literate, but he seems very willing to do whatever i want. he has no idea what is wrong with me, we have ruled like everything out, but he believes something is very wrong. i think he would be open minded to do a lyme test - he has done two titers. all my symptoms are on the lyme list.
so how do i go about this? do i need a llmd from right off the bat?
and i can't imagine i am the only person here who is not financially able to spend hundreds of dollars at once on each doctor visit ---- how do you do it???

Unfortunately igenex tests are kind of expensive and a lot of insurances don't reimburse. But you can order a test kit from igenex off their website I believe. Then you can take it in to your reg doc and he will make the blood draw order. They will also send it from the office to igenex. You will have to write a check for igenex then because you have to pay up front. I believe everything I have said to you is true however if I am mistaken someone else should post a correction.

Good luck. I think your reg doc may be very helpful to you. Maybe even when it comes back positive he'll treat you until you can find affordable help. My mom has lyme and I had her take a igenex in to her reg doc. It came back positive and he has been treating her with doxy for several months and now with amoxi. She couldn't afford a llmd either but because I have one I counsel her on what to ask him for. He's been very helpful to her so far.

Mom mom just order the igm igg test and it cost $190. But it was enough because it came back pos and is being able to be treated now.

Thank you so much, very helpful.
Is the $190 for the Igenex test? Do they only do Igg and Igm? Or is that just one component? I hope that makes sense.
Thanks again!!! I think I will try to order it myself and have my PCP run it.

Unfortunately NOTHING with disease is easy. Not even picking what tests to do. On their website they list all the available tests. Enough to blow your mind. They will do coinfection tests too. My mom couldn't have afforded to have those run. We just had her do the minimum which was the Igm, IgG. But they have a lot of other tests you could choose. They may charge you a little to send the test kit. Like $5-10. The $190 was for the blood to be tested. We wrote the check and the doc put it in with the kit and sent it out.
