I have these strange episodes that involve my balance, emotions (I cry) and then I get this fluid in my abdominal area that the doctor called ascites. The docs were thinking something metabolic but I was wondering if any of you here have that fluid in your abdomen. I have read alot about   paralysis of the digestion from Lyme but dont really know what exactly is involved. Anyone have strange fluid in their belly? Still trying to figure out if all of this is Lyme, sorry... Thanks  D

Dowa, did you have lab tests such as liver enzymes checked? I wasn't sure what ascites was so I "googled" it. I don't have any of the symptoms but found the text on wikipedia very interesting. I guess (I'm not a doctor and don't practice medicine of any kind) the emotions could tie into the thyroid which would be effected by the ascites, which it all leads to our hormones. Please keep us posted on the tests results if you would.
Good luck to you.

Thank you Maggie. Liver enzymes were normal. I had also read the wiki definition of ascites and saw the part about hypothyroid and I need to check that again.  I do have some immune deficiency with IgGs all low. I am still trying hard to figure out if my symptoms and lab work is indicative of Lyme. Seems I have alot of things going on that others here do not have. Still trying to solve the puzzle. (: Thanks  D

when I start looking at all my problems I think there is no such thing as Lyme Disease I just have a whole bunch of problems and all people that have lots of problems just test positive for Lyme! ( sorry I know I am not thinking streight) but had thyorid issues, now I am going to see a doctor for adrenal issues, tomorow I am seening a nephrologist for my blood pressure........I am just a bit overwhelmed and I dont know if I have Lyme, I was treated for Lyme approx for approx 1 1/2 years and got better but a few months ago I had a hyperthorid, and my blood pressure and pulse went through the room, I am stable at the moment and maybe I am okay just my throid threw things off, on top of that I cant get hold of my LLMD's office, on the bright side, I was so sick couldnt remember anything and I am doing fine taking care of my family and full time job, we do get better, please ignore the beging of my post, I guess I just needed to get it out of my system

Hi Dowa,

Thanks for posting about this. Once when my daughter was hospitalized (in Minnesota, major medical center) and having lots of tests, they did find unusual amounts of fluid in her abdomen but could not come up with an answer as to why. They just sort of "blew it off" after they couldn't figure it out and never gave us a name for it. I will have to read more about this. I am curious if you know of any website I should read about this. Thanks! Best wishes.

Wikipedia has a good explaination of ascites. It can be caused from different things, is your daughter well now? Does she have Lyme?  D

Thank you for the site. My daughter still has lyme and coinfections, as do I. The incident that put her in the hospital was resolved. Thanks for asking.
Best wishes to you. bablymers mom
