Ok, I just came across a few articles indicating that aspartame in diet pop can lock these little Lyme buggers in our bodies and can even spark lyme episodes. Is this true?????? I become more annoyed with this disease every day. ):

Hi North Lover,

I don't drink diet soda, but I did try it a couple times thinking it would be better than regular soda. I definitely had side effects from it, and it had to have been the aspartame.

I know that sugar is no good for those of us with Lyme, but if I'm going to have sugar, I make sure it's either regular sugar or sugar in the raw. I wasn't able to tolerate the taste of Stevia, although I know a lot of people with Lyme who use that as a sugar alternative.

Hi Northlover,

I agree with Gracie's Mom.  Please don't drink the diet soda.
Heth makes a lemon perrier water, adds organic Santa Cruz lemon (not fm concentrate) and a dropper of stevia (or to taste) to make a fizzy lemonade.  Its wonderful!  And it turned out to be our alternative to water!  Also, Recharge makes a natural electrolyte drink that you could add perrier to for the 'soda' effect.  Different, yes; but, a little something for variety.

We're just plain water babies here.

Sorry for the bad news; but we gotta look out for you!

Blessings,
Sojourner

Hi Northlover,

Please don't drink any soda, yes, easier said then done.  The reason is any type of soda, diet, non-diet, etc. makes one's body very acidic which is not healthy.  Lyme bacteria's love an acidic body compared to an alkaline body.

I used to be a Diet 7-Up Addict and slowly switched over to filtered water.  I add all sorts of things to my water, fresh lemon juice, or a packet of Vitamin C.

Every morning I make my Immune Boosting Drink that consists of filtered water and Green Vibrance with some DE mixed in.

If you are up to it, you can make smoothies using blueberries, strawberries, etc.  I used to use a juicer (carrots, celery, apples, etc.) but after finding the Green Vibrance I stopped juicing.

Hope this helps,
Denise

Thank you guys for responding. Wow, all my old cronies at once. I actually started drinking Vernors to settle my stomach (ginger) but then realized the sugar was bad and switched to diet. I think I am now detoxing from the aspartame. My lower lumbar is killing me, ears hurt, chest and ribs hurt, am nauseated (spell), knees giving out here and there, and I have the "Lyme headache." I am frustrated because I brought this episode on myself ):
Thanks again for all your help,
Northlover

I just purchased Organic Raw Blue Agave sweetner. I got it in my health food store. It has the same color as maple syrup but taste just like sugar. it is really good. I use 2 teaspoons in my decaf coffee every morning the 1 cup a day I have and it taste like sugar.
The owner of the health food store said it wont hurt you if you have Lyme and I have to say so far it has not effected me at all.

sweet drinks of any kind...major NO NO!!

on lemon water for years......you'll just be feeding the yeast beast and a some point you'll get neurological issues thinking it's lyme when in fact you've got a major systemic yeast infection.

happenned to me....and still does.

I jumped off sweet drinks and started drinking espresso another bad move as i found out the hard way that coffee will kill up to 75% of the good gut flora in one shot of the stuff. Got neurological symptoms after hitting the coffee hard for a week and couldn't figure out why it was happenning. Thought it was lyme...jumped on Jernigans yeast ease..and viola..symptoms gone.

Aspartame is really bad for you but without going into that I will say there is solid evidence that aspartame causes OR aids fibromyalgia a condition VERY similar to Lyme Disease. In fact some doctors think that most of the fibromyalgia/cfs causes are really just undiagnosed Lyme.
