I can't remember who went, but I was wondering if they had to make any more trips to the clinic and how they are feeling now? I'm going to make an appt and would like to hear how they are doing.

Thanks

Lisa

I cringe when i hear this clinic mentioned. And i don't hear too many amazing success stories about it. In my opinion, i think it is a ridiculous amount of $ for very little service. There may be one or two who speak highly of this place but i've heard many more stories of a complete backslide. I look at it more as a last resort for those in a desperate situation.

Hi Bearsfan,

I know many who went to Dr. Jernigan's clinic called Hansacenter.  They don't post because they are completely well.  I talk to some of them privately and the reasons they give me to why they do "not" post is that the majority of members here are too antibiotic oriented.

The people I know who have either relapsed or even died from lyme are the ones who stayed on long-term antibiotics and I feel so bad for them.

I believe one has to be a "candidate" in order to appreciate Dr. Jernigan's protocol and treatments plans.   One has to be open minded, not feel threatened by alternative medicine, etc.

Wackowoman (Jeanne) never took 1 antibiotic and you can read her story in this thread:

https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&p=1&m=1057330

Dr. J. has so many treatment plans but one must remember, he not only addresses lyme disease but the mind and spirit as well.  If a person sees the glass as half empty, they are not going to get better.

Do you remember TequilaLyme?  I'm still in touch with her and even though she didn't go to his clinic, she followed his protocol from home and is doing fantastic!  I don't believe she took any chemical antibiotics either.   There's more but you get the picture.

For the life of me, I could never understand why people feel threatened by alternative medicine yet they feel safe putting poisons in their bodies.  Doesn't make any sense to me.

Hope this helps,

Denise

Thank you all for your responses. I don't want to take abx anymore, I don't think they are helping me. Plus, I just received my bill for IV's (10K) and that doesn't include oral abx that I pay for because insurance doesn't pay for anything having to do with LD.

I appreciate everyone's point of view and I'm still contemplating making an appt or not at Hansa.

My LLMD only uses IV abx as a last resort.  He seldom uses them anymore.  He switches abx around, and there were many I couldn't tolerate, so we just tried another.  He does this so we don't build a resistance to abx.

Having tried Cowden's herbs and Buhner's herbs, the herxes were just as bad or worse than the abx.  I didn't get much relief on them even after several months.

Any relief I've gained has been gradual, but it has been from abx.

Some herbs can be dangerous, too.  Just because they are a herb, doesn't mean they are safe.

LLMD's do advocate detoxing.  I think Jernigan is right about the Levaquin, because that was my experience.  However, his pale spike lobelia herb has  high toxicity. (search the internet)

However, I have read posters that claimed to be healed by herbs alone.  They are the lucky ones.  I think most of us are in crisis situations & need probably abx plus herbs.

Of course, I'm not a doctor, and this is just my opinion.

bearsfan,

I was one of those who was treated by Dr. Jernigan. I just posted on Namaste22's post so I don't want to repeat myself.

CherylSue,

Lobelia has a high toxicity. Pale Spike Lobelia does not. However, I agree with you that just because something is an herb or natural, doesn't mean it is safe. If these weren't powerful products, then they wouldn't work.

Hello,

I've just started with Dr. Jernigan this week.  So far so good.  Some symptoms I've had for 22 years were gone the first day.  I think that is probably very unusual.

That was from the treatments they did at the clinic, nothing to do with taking anything yet really.

Dr. Jernigan told me himself, that just because something is an herb, plant or natural doesn't mean it isn't strong or couldn't be dangerous.

And I have always said, cocaine is natural but I wouldn't take it.

I haven't been on antibiotics.  And again, my experience so far has been brief, so I am not by any means a reliable source yet.  I've just been posting my experience.  I am in very high hopes that it works for me and that the success I've had so far "sticks".

Hope the best for you and everyone.

psinvent,

Hear, hear! I believe in chemicals and do not believe that antibiotics are the problem nor do they cause the level of harm that is talked about. Life before antibiotics was dangerous and miserable. Do these clinics claim to treat TB or chollera, or some of the very frightening emerging zoonotic diseases.

One thing that I am not clear on is - those who have treat with the Jernigan or Cowdon protocol or Stephen Buhner's protocol and feel it cured them - did they have positive diagnostic labs or were they clinical diagnoses?

A man in my area went the natural route, refused antibiotics, and he died of cerebral vasculitis. He was in his 40's.

I go to my local health food store because I do like organic foods, but over the last 5 years I have been sold so many supplements, much of it very expensive and I think they made me feel sick. I am afraid of the amount of supplements that are recommended by some of these places and the assumption that they are safe for all people. Then I go to a chiropractor and he has his supplements. Then I get a phone call and someone is saying that nanonutrients is the way to go. It is all just as profit motivated as pharmaceuticals. Use supplements and herbs as an adjunct, but be very careful depending solely on them to treat lyme disease.

So, I will stick with the science. I will have offended some but I am continually reminded that I may be making a big mistake taking antibiotics and doing more harm than good. I would be dead now if it weren't for them.
