If so can you tell me experiences and can you use it while you are on IV Antibiotics??? That is my biggest concern. I am on TYGACIL, very expensive and I don't want it to interfere!!!!

Thanks,

hi onmyway!
as far as I know there is an absolute NO for usage of activated charcoal while being on abx. I googled but only found a webside written in german from a pharma company informing about abx (nevertheless here is the link: http://www.1apharma.de/itid__301/); its said there is a drug- interaction with activated charcoal and it reduces or even inhibits the abx resorption; my pharmacists told me the same (not use it with abx).
hope you will recover soon! dorit

My LLMD advocates the use of OTC adtivated charcoal.  It's cheap enough and works, especially when herxes get difficult.  My LLMD does not believe in hard herxes.  Sometimes you have to back down some.

Charcoal does interefere iwith absorption, but it does work quickly if you have a bad herx.  Take it 2 hours away from any supplesments or meds.

I like it.

Hi D.

We have had to use A.Charcoal in rare instances but definitely for crisis intervention during extreme herx situations for Heth.  And it was effective.

It helped pull her through.  I agree that when we chose to use it, we knew it was impacting absorption; but the good far outweighed the bad.  No contraindications.  Some of our ILAD docs will defer to it in crisis times when the body is toxic and elmination channels are blocked and not releasing toxins.  This helps move it through quickly and reduce the severity of trauma.

Detox methods are the preferred for maintenance on a routine basis.  This would be perhaps a consideration for those last ditch crisis.  Ask you LLMD what he thinks.

Activated C. moves through the system quickly.  It is a temporary intervention and not to be a supplement.

Blessings,

Sojourner
