I am also lactose intolerant. Never connected it to Lyme however. I was told it is usually a part of being hypoglycemic seeing how lactose is a sugar. D

Yes I was blood tested for 99 foods and was among many, many other things Lactose intolerant 2 years ago. Now after being treated for 2 years for babesia, Lyme and now bart those sensitivities are going away.  I don't go over board but am able to have many of the things I showed to be severely allergic to. The only thing I haven't tried yet is pure egg stuff. There is hope. Blessings

I was made lactose intolerant because of the antibiotics I was on, not because of the Lyme itself. I hope to be able to eat dairy again with the help of probiotics once I'm off all of the medications.

Hi Dorit,

Seems you may be deficient in an enzyme needed to digest milk products. I never made any connection to lyme but I have had lyme a long time. The good news is that there are a lot of lactose free products now. I think that lactose intolerance is fairly common. I suspect that if it is mild many people do make any connection.

I can eat regular cheese.

I can eat lactose free cottage cheese.

I can drink lactose free skim milk - the grocery store now has an organic brand! I am also noticing more competing products on the grocery shelves. Regular milk gives me sour stomach.

Ice cream - gives me indigestion and some brands give me stomach cramping. I try my best not to eat it and there are lactose free ice creams.

thanks, bcaring! yes I think my body stopped to have / produce this enzyme;
it got really bad lately; I switched to sheep and goat dairy products, because I could not eat cheese made of cow mild any more (it came out again); and I will stick to lactose fee products.

After I tried antibiotic treatment from a "lyme disease doctor" I developed the following three new conditions:

1. Lactose intolerance (within a year after)
2. Eczema (within a year after)
3. Neuropathies all over my body that feel like cold wet water, burning, itching, stinging. They flare up during upper respiratory infections, but are there all the time. The sensations are provoked by pressure or are random and last for about a second. (a few weeks into antibiotics)

None of these three conditions have gone away after 4 years since stopping the antibiotics I took for 6 months. I took Minocycline, Azithromycine, Bactrim, Rifampin. He wanted me to take it for 2 years.

I was not cured of my TMJD, tinnitus, chronic muscle pain, tingling and numb sensation below the eyes that comes and goes, vision that shakes when panning on objects up close and looks wavy in the periphery. I have neck pain, back pain, sciatica, temple pain and some pain in the jaw muscles. This all started in my 20's.

I did have a time when I thought I saw a bruise that reminded me of lyme disease around the time of onset of the neck pain and vision symptom, but decided it was not a lyme rash and did not go to the doctor.

I have no idea what is going on with me and I decided to stop at 6 months.

I am sugar, gluten, milk free, no almonds, nothing made with yeast, no nutritional yeast, no bananas. Sometimes I feel that all that is left is the grass in front of my house. That's if the condo does not spray it.
