just wondering...
in the beginning stages of being sick, i noticed my heart seemed to be going a lot faster than usual in response to things that do normally speed up one's heart - exercise, stress, etc. however, instead of mine going up to say 140 which would be normal, it would go up to like 180.
about six months later, i started noticing lots of flip-flops, probably pvcs.
then a few months after that, probably about a year and a couple months after being sick, came the sudden bursts of my heart just suddenly speeding up. probably a psvt, according to my cardio.

wondering if this fits a "lyme" profile? i have read the heart symptoms can come much much later as the disease progresses...

Hi gracietiger! When I got really sick from lyme (but did not know I had it), some of the first awful symptoms were like you describe. I hope your return to health comes quickly. Best wishes. bablymers mom

Hello, As you can see from my profile I have Lyme and co-infections. My heart went crazy pounding and palps for months. I went to cardiologist wore a halter had a cardiogram and everything was fine. Except my heart still pounded and skipped beats. I could hear the pounding in my ers especially at night in bed. t was only after I began to treat the lyme and babesia that it stopped. Now I still get palps but not very often as I think I am getting better. My condition however has led to valve problems that might need treatment down the road. Hope this helps. Blessings

minerals, what kind of valve problems?? when i had an echo almost a year ago, all four of my valves were moderately leaking. i had never had an echo before, because i had never had a palpitation before, even as a hard core athlete. i am not sure if this is unusual, but i have tried to find info about it on the internet, and don't read anything about all four valves being involved. that seems kind of atypical. so i am curious about your problems.

My Tricuspid and Mitral valves are regurgitating back into the heart (I guess that is leaking). I was extremely out of breath this past summer. I am very active and that was difficult. However I began a new LLMD in August who said he believed my breathlessness was due to co-infections. I began a different antibiotic regime and sure enought the symptoms stopped. I am sure my valves are still leaking but I am not breathless now. Hope this helps. Laura

Palpatations and crazy blood pressure numbers drove me to the ER where Lyme Disease was diagnosed, it got better with treatment, but I would recommend an Ace

Inhibitor or Beta Blocker to help with the symtoms till you get better.

You never herd of heart palpitations from Lyme or you mean just not in the early stages? Heart palpitations is an extremely common symptom but is often experienced in mid-later stages of the disease.

It sure sounds like heart issues are a major symptom for a lot of people. I had actually, a long time ago, decided not to pursue Lyme because doctors had told me it rarely affects the heart. Of course, before I knew better, I listened...
Just to clarify, I do realize that Lyme can cause heart palpitations, but I had read that this was usually in the later stages, like way after all the other systems had been affected. I didn't really know what constituted a later stage, but my heart issues were one of the first unusual symptoms to appear. I too was a very avid athlete and hiker, and it was during hikes that would have ordinarily been easy for me that I realized my heart was pounding way too fast and hard. So, this was fairly early in the development of whatever it is going on with me, which is why I ruled out Lyme, having heard it developed much later....
Thanks for all the responses.
