My husband keeps drinking diet soda with aspartame (which is apparently a neuro-toxin) and it is really upsetting me since he is being treated for Lyme. Do any of you have suggestions of low sugar drinks or something with stevia that is safe to drink? He doesn't like to drink plain water much.

Thanks,

there is a soda called Zevia, which is made w/stevia.. The orange and lemon lime are naturally caffeine free.. all of the other flavors have caffeine in them.. im sure you can google it.. the website tells you what stores carry it nearby your house.. hope u can find it :)

What would men do w/out us caring woman eh! ;-)

He can drink water with real lemon and add some stevia.

Aspertame is a killer, hence why all diet drinks in Asian countries are made with Stevia

Is grapefruit juice too sweet? Or iced herbal teas.

Grapeftruit has natural sugars, but is still a sugar.
Anything herbal, especially tea, is a great addition to any diet.

Thanks all! This is great info.

peacesoul - that is interesting about the Asian drinks only using Stevia. How did you learn that? Is Aspartame banned in those countries?

My Suggestions:

Since the weather has turned cold I am hooked on an evening hot chocolate.
Use unsweetened Almond or Soy milk, a little dark coco powder (a bit of a cheat on my diet) and Xylitol or Stevia.

Also, lemon or lime juice with stevia is good.

Celestial Seasonings make a lot of really tasty teas you can make hot or cold.

I also get unsweetened Black Cherry juice concentrate. Mix a glass at a time or add to yogurt. Yummy!

Hi Tickbattler,

Heth created her own lemonade.

Lemon Perrier water 3/4 filled in a 16 oz glass

a splat of Santa Cruz Organic Lemon juice (not from concentrate) (only ingredient is the lemon juice).

a splat = pouring lemon slowly into her glass of perrier until the lemon color is evenly disbursed.  yeah

1 dropper of stevia.

Stir.

Lemon Soda - organic style

I've been drinking a lot of tea (mostly herbal, or rooibos tea with vanilla...yum), mostly because I'm trying to lose a little weight. Because hot tea takes awhile to drink, I think of it almost like a snack. I don't like the taste of stevia, so I put in a touch of honey.
Oh, and in the summers I drink a lot of flavored seltzer (no sugar or anything, though). It makes me feel like I'm drinking a soda, but really it's just carbonated water.
