Hey there! This seems like a great forum. So many helpful, informed people on here. I am newly diagnosed and apparently have had this awhile. Lyme + Babesia + Enrichia. I am on day 25 of antibiotics and day 21 of a low grade fever. I never guessed a fever could hold on this long . . . but apparently the meds plus supplements I am taking is helping to keep killing all this off, right?! Anyone else dealt with a fever like this? Also, having trouble eating. My Lyme really hit me hard in the GI. And I think the term is:dysmotility. Even being REALLY careful in what I eat, there is still a lot of swelling in there and not much food is agreeing with me. Any others with similar? Blending my veggies and eating mostly alkaline and following the no sugar, no carbs, etc etc. etc. Drinking gallons of water, but aye aye aye. Anyone relate?

Welcome to the forum!!!  blush turn

This place is a great learning resource!  It helped me seek out Lyme testing.

The low grade fever is good. The high temp really helps to kill all the little booggers!  Take some tylenol if femp over 102 though.

The GI issues are pretty common. The diet your on is really good.  You should have your LLMD do food allergy, gluten sensitivity, yeast, parasite and bacteria(GI) testing.  Most of us have some sort of food sensitivities and all need to be on probiotics.

Read the Burrascano report that will be suggesed to you by the forum moderator.  It's super helpful!

Good luck with your treatment!!

Lisa

Hello and sorry to hear you are not feeling well. My daughter has lyme and babesia, and at the beginning she had a high fever of 103 followed by two weeks of a low grade fever, then it went away. Her pediatrician was such an idiot that we had to leave that practice, so she was never on a long term doxycycline treatment plan. She only put her on it for 10 days and that was it. So there were breaks in treatment until we found a new doctor, and since have seen a lyme specialist, and now she is on Zithromax, Plaquenil, Mepron, and Artemisinin. Her fever hasn't come back at all. Make sure you are taking a probiotic to help keep the good bacteria in your system. She finds drinking water harsh on her system, and is now on the kick of cran-pomegranate juice (sugar free) cut with water. It's a difficult road ahead, but hang in there and we are all here for you! There are so many knowledgable people to learn from here. Good luck and get well soon! Lisa

Hi, thanks for the reply!

I am allergic to dairy and have been since late teens. I didn't come up with gluten sensitivity, but recently figured out that gluten makes me feel awful! Is the yeast/parasite and bacteria (GI) testing done with stool sample. Have not done that. I should, huh?? I am taking Probiotics 3 x a day.

My naturopath figured out the Lyme, I didn't have it as a guess at all. I didn't realize I had been having symptoms since 06 or 07. Hadn't made connections to the Lyme prior to that time frame, so hopefully I haven't had it for longer than 2 years, but who knows, it could have been dormant prior to that, right?

My worry, is that I read it could cross the placenta, and I have kids. If I have had it a long time, could my kids have it from womb????

Never a rash or high fever. Started with chest pains, that came and went. Then a back ache, that went away, then bloating, insomnia, really irritable, trouble focusing, trouble eating, THEN the knee joints.

I'll look for Burrascano's report. I had seen a utube video of him.

Thanks! Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Keeping the Faith,

Hope your daughter is doing okay. Isn't that sad that so many doctors put patients on the short round of meds and then think all is fine. I have many friends who were also put on a short antibiotic and then no follow up. I don't get it.

I am on Ciprofloxacin and Minocycline and the doctor just put in for another 30 days of it. I am allergic to cranberries, so that has been tricky to find some great cleansing juices.

I do a lot of vits and herbs, recommended by the naturopath who seems very knowledgeable.

It's just you start to feel a little lonely. That's where this forum comes in I guess. Wow, so many people dealing with this stuff.

Yes, keep the faith.
see you around.

Yeah for your Naturopath!

That's great that your on the probiotics. most of the GI test are stool and saliva. My LLMD tested me for so many things that I didn't understand at first. And I'm a nurse. I knew very little about Lyme, and that all was wrong! Everything that could affect your immune systems ability to fight off this disease needs to be checked. If your GI tracts immune abilities aren't 100%, your meds aren't going to have a chance to work. And the long term anbx treatment can really screw up the GI tract, so that's what the probiotics are for.
Lyme really screws up all of your body systems! Issues you didn't have before, you might get now. I have food allergies and gluten sensitivity that I pray is only temporary.

The thought now is that yes, Lyme can pass the placental barrier. I have that worry also. I have a 3 y.o. son and I was diagnosed with LD 7/08. My LLMD told me there's no way to know how long I've had it. I've had back injuries in the past and have chronic back pain. Anyway, she gave me the name and email address of a pediatric specialist on the east coast that she knows. (I'm in Ca). I emailed him with details of myself and son, and he responded pretty quickly. Ill find his card and give the info if you want. But if you have any question in your mind about your kids being infected, have them tested through IGenX.

good luck and hugs to you and your family

Hi LupnerRN,

So do you have parasites on top of the Lyme and co-infections. How are you treated for those?

What kinds of symptoms is your son having, if any? I would be interested in receiving the contact info for the east coast peds. My Naturopath was so vague, she brought it up, but didn't say much except for: the jury is still out on that. But, added that alot of her Lyme patients were families, and also said that it could simply be because they could have all been in the same place at the same time. I was tested through Neuoscience, but I heard they are discontinuing the test. I could try IGenX.

Welcome to the forum.
You will get all of your answers here. Lot's to learn and lot's of very smart people on here....myself not included....lol
I am the sweet one...:>)
Kidding..too much pressure.
Hey with the stomach issues. I don't think that a really high fiber diet is the trick. I mean it is hard to digest.
When my Lilly is having stomach pains. I get her on stuff that does not require to be digeseted. Like things that digest in your mouth before they hit your stomach.
Like watermelon and cantelope. They digest before hitting your stomach. I don't agreee with the no bread thing.
When I have a lot of medicine in my body they hurt my stomach. And bread and pasta saved me.
2004 in Martha's Vineyard me and my two daughters then 11 mos and 6 all got Lyme Disease. This was only known to us because we found the tiny ticks on us and we got very ill. My dog also got lyme and he went lame.
We have fought it for 4 years to no avail.
We all got it again this summer is Texas.
I am now in treatment in Scottsdale Arizona at Envita.

Hi,

I'm 41, I don't know when I got it, I am guessing the summer of 07. But, I do not recall any rash or fevers around that time. The winter of that year, I had an unusual illness, followed by months later, chest pains, followed by months later a back ache. I lost a baby in late May, which I now guess was Lyme related. With a handful more symptoms, none really worried me until the GI symptoms worsened in Oct. and then the knee joints. I never connected the stiffness, numbness, mood swings and insomnia things to the Lyme until the diagnosis Dec 30, 08. It's all pieces of a puzzle, I guess.

I have concerns for my family, 3 kids and husband. They are not ill, but have odd complaints from time to time. My oldest son has been through a lot the past 3 years, coincidence, I don't know. I asked my doctor whether I should have my family tested, and she didn't have an answer for me.

How are you doing Maria? Does anything work for you? Do you see any improvement? How are your kids?

Gracie's Mom,

Great info!! Much of what you said was new! I am drinking tons of water, over a gallon a day. Partially, because I am so thirsty! And partially because I take several pills an hour, so need to drink . . . Maybe I am messing things up by drinking so much. ???

I do know my stomach is extremely acidic and have this constant bloating, arghh. But, that doesn't seem to help in breaking down my food. It's all confusing. But I do know I can eat eggs and green veggies. Those foods make my gut happiest, but don't make my body and brain feel fully nourished.

The pain is bearable, just so frustrating. I am drinking 2 lemons in water in the morning. That REALLY helps with the pain overall, especially the headaches.

I will research what you have listed, and put what I learn into effect!! : )

L J

I'll figure out how to make a signature, later. : o
