You know the feeling when you catch yourself about to fall asleep and you jump out of your skin?
Some times I will be sitting at my desk at work, and I will have the same sensation come over my body. I am not falling asleep, rather I am wide awake. Some times it's just my right leg, other times my whole body jumps. This is starting to worry me a little.

Yes I experience this, it is a neurological symptom. That is how I described it to my doc, like a jump before falling asleep. My golden retriever had Lyme and his whole body would jump, right off the floor. Scarey, but I wouldnt worry as I know it is caused from the Lyme.   D

I also  had this. Besides nearly jumping out of my skin with the slightest start, I would feel the feeling inside like I was really afraid in the pit of my stomach. Like one would feel when they were a kid and did something wrong and they were waiting to get in trouble.  Anyway this all went away after I began treatment for babesia. Blessings

oh my god.. I did not even know that was from the Lyme. The same thing happens to me all the time when going off to sleep. Also if I hear a noise when going off to sleep I see a bright flash of light in my head and then boom my whole body jumps! I also see a lot of shadows or dots of light when the room is darker and my eyes are open. It's scary when you realize that you may of had Lyme way before you even realized something was wrong. It seems for some of us in the begining it is so mild that we don't think much of it.

Hi!  Yes, I have this too!  The only thing that helped the myoclonic jerking symptom was Ativan, unfortunately.  Well first Valium, and then when I had to up the dose, I went to Ativan.  I only ever took it at night, but went up to 5mg.  Now have lowered my dose, and am on 5HTP, and L-Theanine along with .5 Ativan at night.  I only get the twitching if I try to sleep.  And it is all over my body, not just legs.  The annoying thing about this is that most sleep tests only test the extremitites, and they will diagnose 'restless leg'.

Mine started when I got food poisoning (or so that's what I think it was) and was in the hospital for a few days.  That was in 2003.  It was intermittent, and now it is all the time.  I also get that crazy reactivity that you wrote about, if I'm trying to fall asleep, and hear a noise.

I think this has to do with cortisol levels (adrenal).

Of course the lyme and possibly co-infection underlying it all.

Minerals, I also have this 'pit of stomach' feeling (I also believe it's in my throat).  When I wake up, it is there.  Feels like a sadness or emptiness, crazy.  It started when I believe I got infected, I was in grad school, outdoors all the time.  It turns out that on endoscopy biopsy, in duodenum they found Mycoplasma Penetrans PCR.  I think that may be the culprit, haven't adequately treated it yet.
