Does anyone know what exactly garlic does. Does it: Break up biofilms/  Can it open lyme cysts?  Does it kill lyme or bart?  It's expensive to take-want to make sure it's doing something!

Garlic does kill so many things. Not sure about breaking up cysts specifically. However, it does hit viruses and yeast hard! I wouldn't rush right back on abx. if you have had a return of symptoms with garlic.

You could be hitting other things right now. I added oil of oregano a month or so ago and had a major herx. I don't even think it was a lyme herx though, but I did feel achey and had a major headache from the die off. I think it was viral and yeast related.

According to Zhang's book Allicin is anti bacterial, anti-fungal, anti- neoplastic and anti-protozoal. It passes the blood brain barrier and it is very good on fungal infections (candida). It doesn't say anything about attacking the cyst form or the bacteria that has entered the host cell walls. It is eliminated from the body shortly after taking it so you have to take it several times a day.

I used it for a short time but could not tolerate the smell. I switched to coptis and R5081 but these quit working for me after a few months and now I am back on abx. It is really hard to tell what is a herx and what is a 28 day relapse when you are using herbs. Although I thought I was herxing, I got a little worse over time. I would get rid of all your symptoms first before using herbs as the primary source of treatment.

Thanks for your reply. I was symptom free for a few months, so I switched to herbs-garlic, resveratrol and occasional ART-but either had a relapse or a yeast herx-dizzy, shakey fast heart, palps and ear pain-back to pulsing abx.

Wish I knew!

Here is a great ebook, that has benefits to over 64 medical conditions.
It's 177 pages long, with research to back it up.
I have used Alligin ( a supplement containing 150 mg Allicin & 150 mg Ginger) equaling approximately 20-25 cloves of garlic per capsule. And, I have never gotten any bad odor from it.

The book is called "Allicin & Ginger, Nature's Power Healers", by Peter Josling. You can download it FREE at http://www.superimmune.org/colleen. The website also has some great links about MRSA & other drug resistant infections that Allicin is helpful with.

Best Wishes-
