So yesturday I switched from 100MG twice a day of Doxy to 200MG 3 times a day.

Since the switch after I take it I get a fever ever time and I start feeling really out of it.
Is this a good thing? Is the fever part of the herx?

Are you sure that you are not allergic to it? I took ONE tablet last year and broke out in the worse itch I ever had. Didnt try it again.. D

hmm.. I may be mildly allergic. I have noticed a very faint chicken pox type body rash after taking it.

Even if I was mildly allergic I think it's worth taking that risk to get better right?

If you can stick w/ it, it might be worth it. Mention it to your doctor though to be sure. I'm up to 400 mgs. I think it helped!

Hi SickInCT.  Are you raising your dose under a doctor's care?  Going from 200 mg daily to 600 mg daily is a big increase all at once.  I believe the recommended dose of Doxy for Lyme is 300-600 mg daily with 400 mg often prescribed.

Just trying to stay aggressive.. ins won't cover IV and im in late stage of Lyme. The only reason im still able to do anything is because before the Lyme my body was in excellent health and I am only 27!

I understand, my insurance wont cover IV either.  I'm self treating at the moment until I can get to LymeMD(blog) in April.

Could you try IM bicillin or rocephin?  Although I think the IM rocephin would be alot more than bicillin.

I take 400 mg a day - 200 mg twice a day - for about a month now. That is all I can handle. In fact, I am hoping the LLMD I will see soon puts me on something else. Last time I was on it I lasted two months before having acid reflux so bad I could hardly swallow anything and I could not be out in the sun more than a couple of minutes before burning even when covered with sunscreen. Be careful.

Thanks for the info. im not too worried about the sun because I have to stay home and rest everyday unless I have to goto the dr. It's also winter here in CT so its pretty nasty and cold out.
