I have been on Doxy numerous times over the past couple of years so I thought I knew all the rules, but I think I might be having problems with my esophagus. The past couple days it has been getting worse when I try to eat or take meds. It feels like chest pain and trouble swallowing, almost like I need to burp afterwards and I can't - alot of pressure and bloated feeling. I already take Protonix for indigestion. This just feels "different". I am going to stop the Doxy and put a call into my doc today, but wondered if you guys had any experience with this and would love to hear any remedies. I read online that just stopping the Doxy it can naturally resolve itself within 7 to 10 days (but that sounds so long with how I feel!!).

Thanks for any advice!

Blessings,
Leah

I had acid reflux after the first two months of doxy and it felt like a heart attack at first, then it actually went up into my throat causing a burn that was terrible. It hurt for days afterward. I stayed sore and had trouble swallowing things. Now I am on it again and I am being so careful. Always drink a full glass of water, always eat something with it and never lay down within an hour of taking it. I have found that apple cider vinegar (with the "mother" like Bragg's) really helps prevent the acid build up. I put it on my salads but you can put a teaspoon in a glass of water when you take your pills. ACV is very good for your health and it is recommended by some LLMD's. Although it is an acid, it becomes alkaline in your body. I hope you feel better soon.
