Here are all my past tests.

My results the first time around were:

igm- 39+ 41 IND
igg- 41+ 66+ 39 IND

He put me on 10 days amoxy and made me retest again only for IGM;

Results were:

IGM

30+
41+
39 IND

Then asked me to take a 30/31 kda test which would determine if I had lyme and that came back negative.

These tests were done in the last 2 years.  It was never clear with my LLMD if I had lyme or not, first he said yes then he said no.  Also I got pregnant and he said if I did have lyme it would hit me real hard after I gave birth, I had absolutley no symptoms after I gave birth.  I have since had on and offf symptoms but nothing  major.  My daugther is 10 months now I just want to know would I see any symptoms in her by now?  According to my test results do I have lyme?  How come my LLMD is not being straight forward with me?

Your test results after the amoxy (minus the 30+) were mine in the beginning and my doctor treats me as a chronic lyme patient. As far as a baby showing signs I would say you wouldn't have to see any. The lady on the movie Under Our Skin had a baby who tested positive but she said he wasn't showing signs.

Hope this helps. Maybe you need to look into a different llmd?

I wonder if someone knows (or if we will ever know) about the possibility that a baby might have antibodies from her mother. ....?!

SeeingStars,

So you had the same exact test results as me and you get treated for lyme?  What are you taking now?  How long have you been taking it?  I'm just confused with all this stuff.

Yes, my test was the same as your second test minus the 30+.

I am currently taking a lot of abx because we are working on a coinfection that is pointing towards babs, but no tests will confirm this. I do have bart symptoms too so it is hard to discern. I am on biaxin, plaquinil, bactrim (just added this a week ago), and pulsing mino. But I have been on a lot of different drugs even IV twice to total 1 year. I've taken rocephin, iv zithro, iv doxy, iv cipro, oral zith and mepron (just kept getting worse on this combo), and other abx too but I can't think of them all at this point. I have been treated for 2 years. And This combo that I am on now had some huge herxs about every 6 days for about 1month and 1/2. Now I'd have to say I haven't felt better these last few years as I do now. Hope it lasts as we all know with this illness it can change in a day.

As far as me getting treated. True llmd are capable of clinical diagnosis and my test was close to positive. So he felt he should treat me knowing my symptoms too. Of course after you start your meds and herx this is a good reinforcement that you've got it. Also, I must say I (about 1 1/2 years into this) had a CD 57 done and came back with a woppin 13. Some docs don't go by this others do. But normal range is from 60-like 300 or something. Anyway, my treatment has kept me out of the nursing home as if I would not have been treated I was going to never get out of bed from the pain. I am only 30 something and should not even being thinking about a nursing home.

Anyway, your llmd may have some heat from the non lyme supporters and he doesn't want to step into the gray. Maybe you should get a different llmd.

Hi marline.  First, congratulations on your daughter!

Below is the breakdown of the Western Blot bands:

9 cross-reactive for Borrellia
12 specific for Bb
18 unknown
20 cross-reactive for Borrellia
21 unknown
22 specific for Bb, probably really the 23/25 band
23-25 outer surface protein C (OspC), specific for Bb
28 unknown
30 unknown; probably an outer surface protein; common in European and
one California strain
31 outer surface protein A (OspA), specific for Bb
34 outer surface protein B (OspB); specific for Bb
35 specific for Bb
37 specific for Bb
38 cross-reactive for Bb
39 is a major protein of Bb flagellin; specific for Bb
41 flagellin protein of all spirochetes; this is usually the first to appear after a Bb infection and is specific for all Borrellia
45 cross-reactive for all Borellia (sometimes people with Lyme who have
this band positive also have the co-infection Ehrlichiosis)
50 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
55 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
57 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
58 unknown but may be a heat-shock Bb protein
60 cross reactive for all Borrellia
66 cross-reactive for all Borrelia, common in all bacteria
83 specific antigen for the Lyme bacterium, probably a cytoplasmic membrane
93 unknown, probably the same protein in band 83, just migrates differently in some patients

The IgM tests for a more recent infection and the IgG a longer standing one.  The CDC requires several bands to show for the test to be positive; however, many people who have Lyme do not have this many bands.  Lyme doctors often look at which bands are positive.  Some are specific for Lyme.  Band 41 is often the first to show and yours are positive and IND.  Bands 30 and 39 are Lyme specific bands, and yours are positive and IND.  I think your results warrant further investigation.  I don't understand why your doctor ran only the IgM the second time.

Were you treated during pregnancy?  Lyme can be passed through pregnancy and breastfeeding.  It is my understanding that some women will feel worse after delivery.  I recommend having your daughter tested by a knowledgeable doctor.

You may want to consider getting a second opinion.

do most lyme docs consider an indeterminate a positive???? what if it appears on one of the lyme specific bands, like 31?
