I just got back from a thousand mile trip to see a LLmd for the first time. I am so tired!  It was a long haul.

I found out I have bart and am going to start treatment for that.  I also found out some people are sensitive to the T4 in thyroid meds and he is trying me on just T3.  I haven't been able to tolerate synthyroid or armour.  I got some supportive herbs and other things to help with yeast overgrowth and fight inflammation.  If anyone is interrested I can tell you what they are.

The only bad thing is he wants me to come back in 4 months.  He says he needs to see me personally to check my liver and kidneys.  The odd thing is there is no nurse in the office to draw blood so I have to come all the way back here to get the lab work done and sent back to him.  That seems crazy.  You can't imagine how stressful that trip is.  I live in the country and I got lost, with my daughter, driving in the city traffic which is a nightmare.  Imagine trying to find your way through 12 -16 lanes of traffic with brain fog so bad you sometimes can't remember where you are in your own living room!

You poor thing Nefferdun. I remember being so lost on many trips even if I had been there many times - just couldn't remember directions and react to traffic. Being with your child also must have been difficult. Now that I am better I still find a 3 hour drive to the doctor very tiring. You wait for the appointment and then turn around and drive home. Did you drive 500 miles one way????

There are physicians who do not have nurses to draw the blood so I assume he wrote scripts to have the blood drawn. Once he gets results, be sure he mails you a copy or go to a lab that will provide you with copies. It is important to keep your own records.

He should write a script for blood work checking liver and kidney function BEFORE your return visit in 4 months. What med did he put you on for Bart?

It is not unusual to want to see you in 4 months - just make sure that you get as much out of the visit as possible.

Write us more when you have recovered a little. Meanwhile, take it easy as much as possible - ok?

My daughter is 24, so she can drive - thank goodness!. The trip was 500 miles each way. I drove on the interstate and she took over in the city as we were both afraid to trust me. I was the blurry navigator that got us lost. He gave me leviquin (sp?) for the bart with a warning that it might affect my tendons. I only picked up a weeks worth to see what happens as it is $370 a month! I am supposed to start amoxy in two weeks. Thank you for the advice. I will keep records of everything and it is good to know that I need to do the blood work again before I see him next time - which of course just makes sense but I wouldn't have thought of it.
