After a few glorious months of feeling great, and going off abx, my symptoms are back.  Only this time, I notice I get really short of breath with just little things-walking upstairs is a killer.  2 months ago I was running.

Anyone else get short of breath with just a little exertion?

My heart rate is fast again, and I'm really discouraged.

I always think it could be my heart.

Could use some support!

I've had a lot of shortness of breath problems relating to my babs. I've been known to gasp for breath just sitting in a chair. I don't know if Lyme causes breathing problems as well. I suspect that it does.

beths,
i am so sorry. it may be a setback; but all is not lost. it is very encouraging that you were doing so well! can you talk with your llmd and field your symptoms there?

that shortness of breath could represent so many things as you know; from adrenal/hormones to cardio vascular to allergies to co-infection. The clinical manifestation along with appropriate differential labs will help narrow this down.

were you on a sustaining immune support protocol after your treatment ended by chance?
one of the things we keep seeing amongst our stories is that lifelong lifestyle change is key to future long term, hoped for success. especially for the later diagnosed dear ones.

Our prayer for heth is getting to that remission state and then staying on a maintenance program naturally to keep the immune system optimized.

can you keep a 'daily' of the triggers to this shortness of breath and any other noticeable symptoms? maybe that would help define for your doctor what the root cause is a little faster.

you'll get it figured out and address it, beths. let us know how you are doing.

blessings,

No-I wasn't on immune support-I exercised, ate way to much junk over Christmas and got a lot of sleep. I was taking herbs-Resveratrol and allicin, but probably not enough or consistent enough.

It's really hard after months of doing well to take such a huge step back.

I think after not being on abx, the bugs multiplied, and I'm probably suffering from herxing.

I looked at my old symptom chart-it's been around 7 months since I had the chest/shortness of breath issues. I am really down, thought I had this kicked..I could live with the other symptoms, the heart stuff is the worst.

Trying to be positive..I was in remission once, I'll get there again.

Sojourner-I know Heth has had a real hard time..I hope she gets to "the other side" soon.

Just so you know you are not alone, back in November I got short of breath going DOWN stairs. I don't have that anymore. Thank goodness. Give it time.

thinking back i can remember when you struggled w/cardio issues now, beths.
i understand the air hunger/shortness of breath. i've struggled with this for 4 years; it is manageable (mostly) now; but 'I don't have lyme' turn

it sounds like you were on some support and who hasn't enjoyed a reprieve and time of basking in some freedom? thankfully your body is working for you and sending out the s.o.s. so you can face the wind and put the fire out again.

i can understand your discouragement. it's okay. its tough esp. when you've had a taste of freedom from it. but, it will come again b/c you've seen it already. this is just a little alert so that you can identify the weakness and deal with it now.

your heart symptoms are like heth's endocrine ones. she said she can handle most anything but the pain from that (and nausea!) - not!

you are right - you will get there again and we'll be waving at the finish line!!
r u going to call ur doc???? smilewinkgrin

I saw my LLMD 2 weeks ago-it was suppose to be my discharge visit!

When I told him i was having symptoms again-he put me back on bactrim/zith, rotated with malarone/zith; which is what helped me turn the corner over the summer.

My Dr doesn't really deal much with the "other stuff"-I had POTS, but it was never really addressed. I saw a cardiologist, and a neurologist, who didn't know what to do. They felt when the infection went away, so would my symptoms.

I know you are treating your daughter-are you on any meds?
