bad herx?   I'm in really bad pain, shaking and super nauseous that came on very suddenly.  I felt like I was going to pass out!!!

I was off meds for a week cause I might have c.diff, went back on this am.

Pain is really bad....what can I do????   I've never had a herx like this before, if it is one, and don't know what to do.

will a hot bath help or make it worse?

A bath with baking soda or epsom salts would probably help. Make sure to drink plenty of water, too. Take care,

thank you so much for your help!!

I had to go to the ER early this am. I had taken some vicodin for the pain (low back down to ankles) and I had a reaction to it that made my heart pound. My heart was pounding so hard I could count my heart rate by hearing it. While in bed my it was 100-115.

The ER doc didn't know anything to do for me but give me benadryl for the drug reaction. And of course my LLMD has fri-sun off!!

? When you're having a bad herx, do you stop taking your meds? I don't ever want to take them again.

I'm taking: biaxin, plaq, artemisinin, cipro, (rifampin, alinia, lomatruim and andrographis all added 2 1/2 weeks ago. 1 week after adding the new meds I start having diarrhea that last about 6 days. I went off all meds for 7 days. Then starting back with just the biaxin, cipro and rifampin. Eversince I started the rifampin and alinia, every time I take the plaquenil I get serious stomach pain and nausea. Like there's a knife working it's way through my GI tract!!!

? has anyone taken one med fine then switch to another manufacturer brand and then not tolerate it anymore? This is what happened with my plaquenil. I changed pharmacies, and they use different manufacturers. I asked the pharmacist if he thought that any additive differences could make that much difference. He said he never heard off that happening to someone. What do you think?

at least the er doc gave me a Rx for darvocet. This pain is the worst I ever had in my life!!!! And I don't want to play this game anymore!!!! Can't even imagine taking MORE meds when I feel this way.

Thank you so much for your help!!!

I've gone 7 months with out a horrible herx like this.  I never Really understood what everyone was talking about.  Now I know!

I took an epsom salt bath. I guess I made it too hot cause all it did was make my palpatations harder.  And it really made me itch alot.  Is that the detox effect?

The darvocet is working good for the severe pain, but my ankles and wrists are swollen, itchy and painful.

I slept most of today, since I didn't get any sleep last night from the pain.  My poor 3 1/2y.o. is having mommy withdrawls.  It breaks my heart not being able to play with him.  Thank God my husbands home!!

I haven't had much to eat or drink today, so I guess I better do that.  And take all my immune booster stuff.

Thanks again for your help,

Lisa

funny you ask about the BP.
My blood pressure was slightly lower than my normal (110/70) and went even lower with a liter of fluids that I got by IV.
I asked the ER doc about giving me something to decrease the palpitations like a beta-blocker or something and
he said there was nothing to help.
Which I somewhat understand, cause they could drop by pressure lower.

And a lyme friend of mine told me that I probably didn't even have a reaction to the vicodin, that she almost always
got a blotchy rash with her bad herxs.

I'm still recovering from that herx. The last couple days I've been tired, dizzy, elbow and wrist pain, and mostly my lower legs are swollen and painful. They feel like the skin is so tight from pressure that they're going to pop!
This morning I took another epsom salt bath and almost passed out. The hot water makes my palpatations worse.
So I'm definetly looking forward to talking with my LLMD monday morning!

Have you had high BP with your Lyme? Mine has never seemed to change through this whole crappy thing. But the palpatations can
be very scary!

hey lupner.....
Maybe your body is trying to tell you something. Like stop the drugs for a while.
You are not getting better if you are passing out.
And all of this stuff will also kill any good bacteria that you have in your body. so it cannnot defend itself and you will become
abx resistant.
2004 in Martha's Vineyard me and my two daughters then 11 mos and 6 all got Lyme Disease. This was only known to us because we found the tiny ticks on us and we got very ill. My dog also got lyme and he went lame.
We have fought it for 4 years to no avail.
We all got it again this summer is Texas.
I am now in treatment in Scottsdale Arizona at Envita.

HI lupner,

I agree with Martha's Vineyard.

I didn't really feel better until I went on a therapeutic potency enzyme program prescribed by a licensed naturopathic physician, Dr. Jenefer Huntoon in Seattle.

Basically, the enzymes digest and eliminate neurotoxins and they also digest and eliminate the immune-activating debris. (CIC's and dead bacterial fragments) present after bacteria are killed. This approach basically eliminates herxing.

If you can't go to her, perhaps your doctor can learn her method and help you this way.

Hope you feel better soon!
I have had Lymes, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue since 2006. I became intolerant of antibiotics so I started using all sorts of herbal remedies and they helped some. Concentrated plant enzymes prescribed by Dr. Jenefer Huntoon in Seattle helped me more than anything. Dr. Huntoon might be able to consult with you by phone or possibly she could provide her protocol to your local doctor.

May I ask you a question/ I was reading at the end of your post and you wrote Igenex neg. for co-infections but probably have Erh. Bart and Babs, how do you determine that with a negative Igenex? My Igenex was also negative..Thanks   D

Sorry for the late reply,

My LLMD goes by symptoms and doesn't rely on tests. As we know there's no perfect test yet. Hopefully soon.

From what the latest literature sounds like to me, if you have Lyme, you pretty much have to have co-infections!
