For those of you on Bicillan IM could you advise what dosage you are on.

I am on 1,200,000 units - one shot per week.

For those who are getting two or three shots per week - what is your dosage?

Thank you,

I was on that dosage for a long time, and my new LLD feels it is totally inadequate, and states it is like taking "water." She gives 4-6 times that amount each week.

Thanks for the reply Tracy.

Were you on any IV's at any time. The reason that I ask is that I was - and for many months. We have now moved on to the injections after seeing about 70% improvement.

I am concerned it is not enough either. Several others have posted that they did 2 to 3 x's per week.

So your new LLMD has prescribed 3 x's per week. Have you started it yet and do you do it every other day?

Have you herxed at all? I had what I think was a herx on the first and second shot.

I hope someone else will share. I have gone through so much treatment and I don't want this drawn out any longer and I REALLY don't want to backslide, which sometimes I feel like I am.

Thanks for your help.

One more thing - the shots do come in different dosages. So yours are 1,200,000 units? It is a big difference between one shot and 3 to 4. Hmmmmm. I wish this were all so much simpler.

I did the shots 3X weekly at 1,200,000. I know some people do twice that amount but I think that would be too much to inject at least for me it would have been. Dr. H also said that he has patients that have been doing the injections for over a year. I hadn't seen any improvement in 3 months and he said that would have been long enough to notice. So I quit after 3 months. From everything the doc said and what I have read you should be doing at least 2 a week to keep the levels up.

Thanks Kim,

Geeezzz- I don't know why we're fooling around here with to low a dose. My doctor is not easy to question but I guess I am going to have to talk about it becauseg I have been through too much to backslide.

It sounds like you are in a better fighting spirit. It is tough - I know - I have my days where I seem to kind of lose it. Then I have good days where I push myself.

bcaring-Definately pursue the dosing question because you certainly don't want to backslide..If the Bicillin had helped me I would still be doing them today. I am seeing the doc on Wednesday and have a feeling things are going to change alot. Will let you know.Take care

I did 2,400,000 once a week.  I didn't backslide on that dose but I also didn't improve.

Yes, I did the 1.2 mu dosage. I did it for about 10 months all together, maybe after 6 months increased to two a week, then on my own the last month or so got some leftovers from friends and started doing 3-4 a week.

Bottom line, it helped, but I was still bedridden. I got maybe an out of bed day here and there some mental clarity. I changed LLDs because I just wasn't getting anywhere.

Now I am on IV Rocephin, on my 5th week. My new LLD said it was clearly time to go on IVs, and that I have been grossly undertreated the whole 4 1/2 years I've been sick.

I am now a big fan of aggressive treatment after all the time I've spent sick and not making any progress. In addition to the Rocephin, I am also on Mepron, Zithromax, Actigall, Plaquenil, Bactrim, Armour Thyroid, and Cortef.
