Doryx 150mg bid

Plaquinil 200mg bid

Biaxin 500mg bid

Does anyone have any thoughts on this combination? I think I have seen Phsinvent comment on it but I am not sure. My history is Lyme, Babesia, and past Bartonella. I am finally testing negative on Babesia and Bartonella but now there seems to be evidence that BLO's are problem. I do have symptoms of Bartonella.

Thanks in advance.

Hi bcaring.  Congrats on beating Babesiosis!

Which infection is your doctor targeting with this protocol?

Have been prescribed the exact same combo. But am on 400 mgs bid and 1000 bid biaxin and haven't gotten my plaquenil filled yet.

Please let me know how it goes. I believe I've had success -- over time -- with this combo

I also take alpha lipoic acid and vitamin c and magnesium.

Ticker and HopingtoFindCure,

I am the lady who found a tick attached to my leg about 14 days ago. My LLMD had me mail the tick to them and has sent it off for testing. At that time I was on Biaxin, Plaquenil, Bicillin IM, and Valtrex. (This regimen was post 14 months of IV Roceph, Zithromax, Mepron, and finally Clyndimycin.) I became suddenly ill in 1995 and dx with FM and CFS. It was a big mistake and I was not treated for Lyme until 2003. By that time I was really ill. It has been a battle ever since.

So when bitten, the doctor said to stop the current meds and start on Doryx to cover more TBI's. I asked if I should stop ALL meds? The doctor's assistant said yes but I am beginning to wonder if it was a mistake in communication.

I feel horrible. Depressed and really hurt all over, headaches. I am aware that Doryx can cause some of these symptoms and I sure am not happy about the way I am feeling. I see the doctor on Mardch 23rd which isn't too far away but I don't think I can take this Doryx much longer. It usually takes a while to get a response from the office so I was wondering if I should add the Biaxin and Plaquinil back in (not the Bicillin). This morning I couldn't force myself to take the Doryx. So if you have any thoughts or comments - let me know.

It takes about 10 days to get the results back on the tick and that should coincide with my office visit. Hopefully it will be negative on all counts. I live in southeastern PA in a very high risk area - lovely deer herds running through our backyards! Poor deer - it isn't their fault.

HopingtoFindCure,
You said you had success over time with this combo. Did you do any other combo before this one? (ie.get the germ load down). Did you have any trouble with the Doryx? Any info is always appreciated.

Take care,
Beth

I'd follow the doctor's orders. If you need to get reassurance on his instruction, contact the office and ask to speak to the doctor.

I started only been on doryx. Biaxin was added as I was concerned about some things and requested it based on its ability to cross the BBB. Plaquenil is supposed to work with Biaxin, but I just got cleared for plaquenil.

It takes a while for things to kick in. But they will. I think you'll get better in time. I have. I just have stiffness still, but I'm working on that too and plaquenil may help when I get on it.

Keep us posted on this new bite!

Can anyone out there tell me how plaquenil and biaxin combo helped alleviate their symptoms?

Specifically, which symptoms?

THANKS
