Can anyone tell me their experiences with taking malerone. My doctor said he is switching me up to stir up some stuff he thinks is hiding. So now I will be adding Malerone to my Bactrim and Arttemisinin. I'm nervous about it. I hope I don't back slide and feel like I did this past summer. I am so worried about that. : (

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Maria cry

PS I have, Lymes plus Babs and Echrl.

Don't worry. Malarone is not too strong at all. It contains a far lower mg of atovaquone than mepron. It is more of a preventative drug a traveler would take when entering a malaria infested country.

Also, don't forget to take it with fat(milk, milk shake, cheeseburger, cheese, oil etc). Atovaquone is a fat soluble chemical. It does not dissolve in water. If you take it with just water, 95-99% of it will go straight through you and into the toilet. When taken with fat, atovaquone dissolves in the fat and the fat is absorbed into the walls of the intestines, carrying the chemical through.

Alternating malarone/zith 1 week, and bactrim/zith the next helped me turn the corner!

I tolerated the malarone well (I think). Used it with atemisinin. It may have helped me but for some reason I started having liver and kidney problems so I had to stop all drugs. I'm not sure if it was all the toxins from the meds or die off that pushed me over the edge. My hope is that you are able to get blood chemistry tests to monitor how you are doing on the meds. Take care.

Considering 2 years ago, I was housebound-I'ld say the malarone helped!  I was in remission a few months ago, but I went off too soon...had a slight relapse-doing well now.

I tested positive for babesiosis a few years ago. Along with abx I was on mepron for about 21 months, then malerone. I had no bad reactions to either of them. Malerone is much milder than mepron. The treatment worked for babesia (I HOPE). It was very difficult to get rid of. I am now on a moderate cowden protocal along with abx to treat any residual parasites.Blessings

Samento which is cats claw (I think) which is also an antiparasitic and antiinflamatory etc, along with parsley and cumanda to start. These are in the form of drops to begin slowly and increase as tolerated.

Hi ria,

I did not take malarone long enough to get rid of the babesia.  I have been on all natural treatments now for a long time because of my body's intolerance to meds.  I have improved a little over time, and was  recently put on the drug Alinia for a cryptosporidium infection (gut infect., water borne parasite).  I was told it would hit the babs too.  I was on the Alinia for 3 weeks, and now I will start it again for another month.  Don't know yet how long I will be on it.  Just had a blood chemistry test to see how I'm handling the meds and will get the results this week.  I was told a long time ago by an llmd that Babs is hard to get rid of and treatment can last around 7 months to kick it.  I'm not sure how long it takes with all natural stuff.  I'm hoping my immune system gets strong enough to do the job itself!   Best wishes to you.  bablymers mom
