Hi!

I've written quite a few times in the past regarding a cat bite issue and use of Doxy long term...I have been on antibiotics for 6 months and last week went off per my doctor's request.  We would wait and see what happened.....well,over the weekend I began having the fuzzy head again, tingling in my face and head, vomiting and extreme fatigue. I lost another couple days of work, and of course, the disappointment that this nasty thing still hasn't completely gone away. The doc gave another Rx for 6 months and we will see what happens again at that point.  I am frankly rather scared of ever going off the meds again.  I DO NOT want to experience the seizure activity and terrible brain fog that kept me from working so frequently over the past 1 /2 years....anyone else have these problems?  I know the Bartonella had gotten into my brain tissue which caused the seizure activity, and ridding it from the tissues is the hardest part of eliminating this bug......it's just getting really old dealing with all of this....thanks for any input...

I too tried going off the antibiotics. Lasted about a month and I started going downhill fast. They always talk about Lyme being in remission in some. To me, I see that as it really will never go away.

Are you seeing a LLMD? You might need a different abx especially one that is more effective for bartonella. After awhile the bacteria build resistance to whatever you are taking so you need to change drugs. It really is tough getting rid of this. I have gone off abx and relapsed so I know how depressing it can be.

Has your doctor thought of combination antibiotic therapy? My wife had a lyme/bartonella diagnosis, and was given ceftin/bactrim.

Ask your doctor to check for yeast/fungal/mold/parasite infections. Particularly candida. With my wife, she wound up testing positive for candida, and was given diflucan (anti-fungal). Her improvement appeared to coincide with this treatment, so if she had kept taking antibiotics, she might not have improved.

Have you had your hormone levels checked? Particularly your thyroid.

How about heavy metals?

Have you been tested for food allergies? Anything you can do to strengthen your immune system is a MUST. If you are eating foods which your body cannot handle, it just has to work harder to fight off whatever is ailing you.

Good luck.

Sorry you are backsliding. In my opinion you need to get to a LLMD who will give you the proper combination of meds and suppliments. The more time you waste doing the wrong thing the worse these infections get. Blessings

Hi Petma,

All the posts made excellent suggestions. It is so upsetting to relapse and no, you aren't nuts. Just remember that.

Minerals comment that you need to see someone who is experienced in combination antibioitc therapy is completely right on, especially if you are having such strong neuro symtoms. The longer you wait the longer it all takes. Keep us alll posted and wishing you well.

Hi again everyone.....I am still really exhausted from this recent relapse....going back to work today but am soooo tired....the tingling in my hands will not go away......has anyone else experienced this?  I had tingling previously that would come and go, but this time around it just seems to be there the majority of the time......I am getting really tired of all of this stuff.....nasty bug....
