Hello fellow Lymie friends. I was curious if anyone else was bitten/traveled to the same area/region that I was bitten at? If you wouldn't mind, lets all give a brief descritpion of the area/location that we were infected at and give a few details about the bite (if you remembered being bitten) The area that I was bitten in has had ticks test positive for lymes disease up to 41% and is the highest in California. Thanks and hopefully some of us share some similarities!!!

I was bitten in Mendocino County in Northern California. The nearest town located to where my bite occured is Point Arena, CA (located about 3 miles away). I was bitten in the forrest while vacationing. The area that I was bitten in contained many red wood trees with other shrubs and plant life. It was a very densely populated forrest. There was also a few meadows that deer, turkeys, mountain lions and other host animals liked to hang out nearby. My bite occurred late spring/early summer and I had been there for a few days before noticing the the tick. I remember feeling a very sharp/piercing sensation on the lower part of my left shoulder and the butt end of the tick was engorged with blood when I pulled it out. I thought nothing of it at the time and don't remember a bulls eye rash. Too bad I didn't save that little critter to be tested!!!

Does anyone else have a similar experience with this location and the piercing sensation???

Also, if you were bitten/traveled in a rural/forrest part of Mendocino County like I was, check out all the information they have on the web about the high rate of ticks carrying lymes disease in this area!!! Thanks everyone!!!

Either Big Sur California or Baja Mexico (mainland, not coastal). I went on 2 different camping trips within a month of each other. Had a rash sometime thereafter, then my major symptoms started 3-6 months later.

I was bit in the Hamptons, Long Island NY circa 1987, but was also bit a few times in Orange County, NY (1 hr North of NYC, West of Westchester County). I was also bitten apparently within the last year again, not sure where. This disease and it's coinfections are spreading so rampantly, soon it will be impossible to NOT be affected at some point by it. It makes my heart hurt with grief.

Firefly was 8, April 1999, when last tick was removed.  Camping trip in upstate South Carolina.  Four ticks removed around ages 4 and 5. In our yard in upstate SC. Symptoms started May 1999.

My husband and I both have Lyme. We did not get a rash and do not know exactly when or where we were bitten (or perhaps he passed it on to me, we just don't know for certain). He's had symptoms since about 2002, and I got sick in Jan, 2007. We've done a lot of hiking and mountain biking in northern California, including Mendocino and Point Reyes, as well as the foothills and mountains. My LLMD said he's aware of people having been bitten around Folsom Lake (east of Sacramento) where we frequently mountain biked.

My husband was then bit (again) by a tick in Nov, 2007 while mountain biking just out of Auburn, CA. He did get the bulls-eye rash on this occasion, and we think that's when he also contracted Babesia, which he tested positive for in addition to Lyme in March 2008.

was bitten in California, many possible places from east bay to the Mammoth area; or possilbly even central Nevada.

never saw the bite, never had a rash.  So don't really know how long I've had it.

Every county except two in california have had ticks tested positive for Lyme.

Becareful all you Yosemite travelers!!!!!

I'm not sure because I never saw the tick and do not remember a bullseye rash. I believe it probably happened in either upstate New York, the Hamptons or Mystic, Connecticut. Then again it could have happened just about anywhere else I've been.

Either western PA, someplace in Europe (UK, France, Italy), or on the banks of the Withlacoochee River North of Hernadao County, or in my own old back yard in Tampa FL.  rolleyes

I was bitten, I think, while working at Washington Crossing State Park of New Jersey. I could also have been bitten in my back yard in Bucks County, Pa.

However due to a high number of cases reported by staff and visitors I am pretty sure it was at the Park

Twice last year I found deer ticks on my dog who very rarely goes out of the yard except for walks to a local park

I saw the rash when I first moved to Greenville, South Carolina (first week of June 2005). However, I had just moved from Lexington, Kentucky (3rd week of May 2005) and stayed a week with my parents between the move in Johnson City, Tennessee (4th week of May 2005). So, either of those three places.

Somewhere in Middlesex County NJ, Edison, 2004.  Saw the rash, never saw a bite, never saw any puncture or other marks anywhere in the rash.  Didn't know about lyme back then either.

9/2008 Gloucester, Essex County, MA. Saw tick and had red circular rash.
Several times prior to that date, same location.
Possibly bitten in Northern California, Sonoma County and/or Yuba County between 6/87 - 9/97.
Just began first treatment 2/2009.
