Hi jennie48.  I am sorry you are feeling so bad.  I am only speculating, but you may be herxing from the Amoxicillin especially since you have been off meds for a month.  Definitely let your doctor know that you stopped them.

Good luck at your appointment next week.

I quit amoxi about a week ago because my tongue was stinging and burning and my mouth dry but I also had bad muscle pain in my back and arm which has not completely gone away. I do not know what caused this. At first I thought it was a herx but when the pain did not go away and got a lot worse, I researched online and muscle pain was a possible side effect. I was also taking levaquin and that is a side effect of it too (I had a few painful snaps in the muscle also) so I quit both drugs. I start a new regimen today.
Maybe it is from your cold as my husband was very sick with a flu that made him feel achy all over for several days (I had a flu shot). I hope you feel better soon.

Is your tongue still burning??? If so you might attribute it to Babesia or Bart. I used to get that big time, but now only for a few minutes after taking antibiotics.

P.S. when I was on Rocephin within minutes of infusing the iv my tongue would burn. However I kept at it for 3 months because I felt it was my last hope of getting better. I am happy I did.
