Hi kendal122 -

is it Suprax ? A third generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic which is a beta-lactame antibiotic like penicillin has been sold in the States under this name since about 2004 or so;

 if you are allergic to penicillin I could immagine that you are at  high risk with the Suprax too. I recommend asking your doc (or even your pharmacist !? - sometimes I have the feeling my pharmacist is even more cautious than any doc I have seen so far....). Greetings to you, dorit.

 ps: the rocephin belongs into the same category as far as I know; did you take that w/o allergy? would be interesting to know. I have this allergy problems too, it is really a challenge to check which may work w/o causing additional chaos.

 kendal122 - I think you are right with the ceftin being a 2 generation cephalosporin..... hmm, this is all really a detective`s work;

 have you got your allergy status with the penicillin checked? It seems they have good methods to test it. I am reading different articles to see if it would make sense for me to get tested; I found one translation about what they do and how; maybe it is of interest for you too.  http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/118767652/abstract

greetings, dorit

ps: I found a link with an abx list where you can find other abx from the ceph.-group, hope that helps. I think the link was from KeepHope originally.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_antibiotics
