I've recently been prescribed it for every 5-7 days... I guess for the pulse thing.

I'm kinda scared. I will reduce my doxy during this time from 400 to 200...And then go back to 400mgs. I am also on Biaxin.

I may not be able to start it until I can afford it.

Advice? any successes?

Hi hopingToFindCure.  Flaygyl can be a good med for the cyst form, but from what I understand it should be started at a low dose and built up over time. When taking Flagyl, make sure you do not have alcohol of any kind (including mouthwash etc.) or it can make you very sick. It can have a bad taste when you swallow it.  Some people find that coating it with olive oil helps.

I took Tinidazole which is similar to Flagyl but is supposed to be easier to tolerate.

I have a an article about Flagyl written by a PhD that I can email to you if you like.  It is too long to post here, and the link is no longer valid.

I have been using for 2 weeks every 3 weeks and I think it helped joint pains for me as it does treat the cysts. It tastes horrible (generic not sure if there are other less horrible tasting pills) so I learned to keep it away from my other pills and when I take it a chase it with orange juice or some flavored drink. Typically I feel great for a couple of days on it, then not as great (nausea, sweats, fatigue, some joint pains)- so taking it for shorter courses like you are doing may be good- how often are you taking this for? I have done 3 cycles. My LLMD suggested that we keep pulsing it in until no herx reaction on it. The alcohol intolerance is real- I forgot I was on it and had a little beer at Superbowl and was nauseated all night......good luck

I am supposed to take it 2x a week. My doc told me today to dip the pill in honey and it is not bad going down.

K. Thanks for all the GREAT advice. I will try it when I can. All these medications are getting expensive.
