Hi All,

I went to my regular doctor for my yearly gyne checkup.  I asked for her to order a CD-57 so I could see if I've made any progress on the Zhang protocol.  She said they didn't list it.  I told her I had one drawn at my local LabCorp office (about 2 years ago), so she included on the rec slip with the rest of the labs she ordered.  I am going to try to get my blood drawn this week.  Has anyone had a CD-57 from LabCorp lately?

Thanks, KO

Hi KO,

I just had a LabCorp CD57 test run last week. I get them done every 2-3 months actually.

From Doc B's "Advanced Topics on Lyme Disease,"

It says, "If you would like your health care provider to order the CD57 NK test for you, your blood sample needs to be drawn into an EDTA tube (lavender top) on Monday through Thursday and sent immediately to either LabCorp in Burlington, NC, or Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) in Austin, TX. LabCorp and CPL are the only two labs that perform this test properly. Quest does NOT. The LabCorp test code is #505026 and is named HNK1 (CD57) Panel. The CPL test code is #4886, CD57 for Lyme disease. The test is time-sensitive and must be performed within 12 hours of collection, so blood should not be drawn on a Friday or results may be inaccurate."

I'm not sure that the time limitation for the test still exists? Perhaps someone else knows?

I just had a cd 57 last week and had one last september as well. My blood was drawn on a Tuesday. My first test was a 22. I heard from the nurse via phone today that mine last week came back at a 2 and 12? Not sure what the double number reading means. However, I am pretty depressed about it because it appears to be worse after almost a year of abx. Am I losing the battle?

I am getting ready to go to LabCorp to get my CD 57 but cannot find the codes you listed. Anyone know if they changed the names or the new codes.

I had a CD-57 run by LabCorp in Tampa, Florida on 3/24/2011. Looking at my results, I cannot tell what the ordering code is. But, there is a phone number listed on my results page.

Perhaps it would be beneficial to call this number for the LabCorp in Tampa that is listed on my results page: 1-800-877-5227.

Good Luck.

This is interesting, thx. who started this!

I requested my dr.office do this CD57. But I have Quest Lab. Now I'm concerned. Why Quest bad?
But the lab result papers comes back as PATHLOGY LABORATORIES, in Toledo, Ohio . Is this Quest with another name?

I am going to go to Ask.com and see if I can research this.

I knew someone who used to work for Lab Corp and when I drew blood in my former jobs, we used Lab Corp.

Thanks!

You have to make sure whoever is drawing the blood works with Lab Corp. The first place I went to did not, but the person registering me did not know any of this. I did all the paper work, waited my turn and then the tech couldn't find the test code in her computer program. I left and went to a Lab Corp office and had it done.

LabCorp does offer the CD-57 test, however they do not list it in the "menu" of tests on their web site.

It is a write in:

The LabCorp test code is #505026 and is named HNK1 (CD57) Panel

For more information about CD-57 go to Google and search for:

Public Health alert Newspaper - by Ginger Savely

Also Joseph Burrascano discusses the CD-57 test in his PDF file.  Go to Google and search for:  ADVANCED TOPICS IN LYME DISEASE .
