Here is my protocol: 7 days of the week Ceftin, 5 days Doxy and 2 days Flagyl.

I am SO nervous about taking the Flagyl. All I have read is very scary on the boards. The dose is 250mg 3x day. What should I expect? I will be home alone with my kids. I am so freaked out! Should I cut the first pill in half?? Please give me some advice. Also, has anyone taken the Flagyl with Ceftin?

Thanks!!

Yes, I am.  I did not have a good Flagyl experience today. I will be calling him tomorrow. I am not sure I can do it again.

I have not had any problems with flagyl so far and I had myself totally worked up over it, but I eliminated every possible source of alcohol from my body-- shampoo. toothpaste, body and face lotion, soap, hairspray, acrylic nails--everything!  My daughter took 1 day of tindamax and was so sick, but she had bathed with shower gel and body lotion the night before.  Don't know for sure if it is related, but will try her on it again in the future after eliminating all alcohol products.

I couldn't tolerate flagyl either. It gave me headache and nausea even though I was not around any alcohol. I am using grapefruit seed extract now until later. My LLMD wants me to use plaqenil when/if I can.

I too could not tolerate flagyl--i had all the terrible g.i. side effects that i found online after i'd become so sick with it. as well as overwhelming sleepiness that left me totally useless. it was a nightmare and my doc was away, when he came back, he switched me to diflucan. according to him only about 10% of patients have such trouble with flagyl. so now i'm on rocephin (which i had already started) and diflucan. are there any opinions about the effectiveness of diflucan in killing cysts? i'm new here and i've just been reading and saw a post about flagyl being one of the only things to attack cysts... thanks!
