My Igenex labs came in and my LLMD wanted to see me asap.

The results were negative: For IGM Everything negative except band 41 IND and 66 +

For IGG they were all negative with band 41++ . So I got nothin.

The Babesia Fish test came back positive. They have addded Paracidin and in two weeks Parastat. Also, Biaxin 125 mg one every other day.

Any words of wisdom?

Hi lemonsnotlymes.  Although it is likely possible to have Babesiosis and not have Lyme, I don't believe it is typical.  Is your doctor still planning on treating you for Lyme?  Some people who have Lyme do not test positive.

I am not familiar with Paracidin or Parastat.  Are these anti-malarials?  Babesiosis is similar to malaria and needs to be treated with a combination of an anti-malarial (often Mepron or Malarone) and an antibiotic (Zithromax, Biaxin, or Ketek).  The typical dose of Biaxin for Lyme and/or Babesiosis is 1000 mg daily.

I am just like you I tested negative for the lyme testing, and only have the Babesia Anti-body and FISH positive.

All other co-infections are negative too, lab-wise. I am sure its possible that we only have Babesia, yet who knows there's just not enough information and research to rule it out.

Mepron/ Malarone with an antibiotic is the usual treatment, similar to that of malaria.

May I ask what your major symptoms are? I think you are the only person besides me that has the Babesia positive so far, since most have Lyme as the main infection.

Do you have the Duncani or Microti strain of Babesia? Did you get only the FISH test done or did you also have the anti-bodies done as well?
