I bought something at the health food store for detoxing heavy metals with various herbs including spirulina, chlorella, cilantro etc. You take that at night and then mineralize the next morning. I have had problems with the herbs waking up in the middle of the night with a bad migraine and then the next morning under my eyes are puffy and swollen. What is this? I only get this on the nights that I take the herbs - otherwise no headache or swelling.

Hi nefferdun -

I had similar experience once in the very beginning of my detoxing. I only can say that I responded to the remedy but do not know if I could not get the toxins out sufficiently or if the remedy put too much stored away toxins back in my bloodstream and caused those symptoms.

I went to a doc who does homeopathy to help me with detox.
We switched to those remedies I mentioned in giorgiagirls thread - those tackle toxins at different corners/ locations with different ingredients which made it much easier and much more effective for me. I did the splitted time frame to get my body used to what I want to do.

Do you see a naturopath/ homeopath? greetings from dorit

Thanks dorit,
Thanks for responding. I suspect I will have to use something else, like you suggested. I did not take it last night and feel (and look) so much better even though I did not sleep well. I am not seeing a homeopathic doctor right now as I went to an LLMD, which was costly. He said there is nothing that can treat bartonella but abx and everything he gave me made me sick - still not over the levaquin! So right now, I am back to treating myself although I have heard there is a very good homeopathic doctor locally that is knowledgeable about Chinese herbs etc so I will give him a try if my treatments doesn't seem to work. It has been my unfortunate experience to always have to find the solution myself.

Please be certain of the proper procedure before attempting to detox HM. Improperly doing so can definitely make you sicker. I learned the very hard way. :) The body is pretty good at compartmentalizing HM's in tissues where they'll do the least amount of harm. If you chelate without sufficiently binding, you'll just flush out the HM's from the "storage compartments" where they'll float around wreaking havoc, and just generally making you feel like hammered poo.

Remember many agents may be great chelaters, but not so good at binding, while other agents may be super binders, but cant chelate (break loose) the HM's from their hiding places.

Loved your explanation Sulma!

I agree with dorit that a good naturopath can be very helplful in choosing the right things to use.

nefferdun, I am sorry you are having negative reactions to treatments. I know the feeling! I hope you are able to find someone that can help you. I know that "going it alone" is tough. It's good that you are involved in finding solutions for yourself though-------I'm sure your persistance and knowledge will pay off! Best wishes to you. bablymers mom

Thank you for the warning Sulma.
I am not going to do any detoxing right now until I get my herbal protocol worked out. I probably need to detox the abx residue more than I have to worry about heavy metals.

Thanks!

Agree finding a good ND or an orthomolecular MD to prescribe a detox plan is absolutely the best way to go if a person's finances permit. Wish mine did. cry

Yeah I agree that neurotoxin build-up is the more emergent issue. HM detox really takes several months at a minimum to see any results, unless you can afford really intensive treatment by professionals.

A word about chlorella and cilantro though since I've used both those with a lot of success. Chlorella is a good chelater and a very good binder. It works far better as a binding agent when taken on a COMPLETELY empty stomach, otherwise it's competing with food in your intestine. Thirty minutes after taking 4-5 grams of a good quality chlorella (I used Yaeyama by Source Naturals) eat a whole bunch of fresh cilantro. Toxins cycle through our gut constantly via our bile and the cilantro provokes a much larger release of it than normal. The chlorella "catches" it and carries it out via your stool, rather than allow it to reabsorb through your intestinal wall.

Chlorella will actually make you feel much worse if you don't take enough though. The first 3 or 4 times I tried it I was sure it was Satan b/c every time I felt horrible afterwards. Problem was it was provoking a toxin release, but I wasn't taking enough to sufficient bind everything that was being chelated. With really serious trepidation I decided to triple my dose. To my shock, no problem at all. If you take it, it must be on an empty stomach, and in sufficient dose.

Thanks so much sulma. When you say you tripled your dose, did you raise it to 4-5 grams?
