I was in treatment for 15 months and the treatment ended in March 08.  I was feeling great until last month.  I have horrible back pain, it is difficult to walk it hurts so bad and today my neck is stiff and my joints are achy.  My internist thinks it is athritis, could it be that my Lyme disease has reared its ugle head again?  I have no rash and do not know of a new bite.  Thanks.

Sounds very suspicious to me. Did you treat until all symptoms were gone and then for an additional two months? That is what our LLMD recommends. I would definitely go back to your LLMD for an evaluation.

I was treated for three months after all symptoms were gone.  The doctor wants an MRI and gave me a script for steriods, which I understand can make lyme worse.

Is this doctor an LLMD? I would get a second or third opinion on the steroids before you do that! Did you treat coinfections as well as lyme? It just seems very likely to me that this is lyme/coinfections coming back. Why not try going back on abx and see if this relieves some of your symptoms? If it were me, I would try that before taking steriods!

RA is when the body's immune system is attacking itself - that is why people are given steriods tp suppress the immune system. If you have lyme disease you need to strenthen your immune system, not weaken it! The sickest people are those that were given steriods. Go to an LLMD for a second opinion. It will not hurt you to go back on abx to see what happens. It will hurt you to take steriods if you have bacteria and then no immune system to fight it.

Hi momtothree,

It may not be the lyme bacteria that returned, you may be feeling all the leftover die-offs (toxins).   Toxins alone can make a person feel really sick.

During your treatment of 15 months plus, were you on any detox regime?  Just curious as that would explain so much.

I hope you feel better,

Denise

Hi momtothree

I saw your post and felt bad for you, I dont have any suggestions, I just wanted to say that I get this problem every time I get sick I am convinced its Lyme Disease back, but it hasnt, it was different issues, once it was Thyroid, I would higly recommend you see a good doctor to see if anything else is going on and see your LLMD for reassurance, I wish there was a way we can snap out of LYME LAND! I would very much like to know how you feel, please let us know

I saw my LLMD yesterday.  She said that it sounds like my Lyme has returned but she is not 100% sure.  I am being tested through Igenex for Lyme and Erlichia.  She put me on a one month regime until the blood tests come back and also to see if it helps.  My main problem is my back and tingling with numbness in my legs.  Do others have bad lumbar back pain?

Momofthree,

You wouldn't happen to be taking any cholesterol medicine? I'm asking because my husband was on some and had severe back pain. He would barely move and pull his back out. It was a side effect of the medicine.
2003 symptoms started with very intense panic attacks and anxiety. Also had sound and smell sensitivities. Was in and out of the hospital from 2003-2005. Diagnosed with panic disorder.
2007 found an LLMD and was diagnosed with Lyme. Didn't start treatment.
2008 symptoms came back with a vengence. Muscle pain, joint pain, floaters, stiff neck, rib pain, slow thinking, brain fog, etc...
2009 went back to see LLMD. Diagnosed again with Lyme plus co-infections....Babesia and Bartonella.
Illnesses:
-Chronic Lyme Disease
-Hashimotos Thyroiditis
-Ulcers
-Hypoglycemia
Medications:
-Biaxin 250mg to start (starting slow and working my way up)
-Mepron
-Ultram(muscle/joint pain)
-Thyro Complex 60mg(Thyroid)
-Probiotics
-Caproyl(intestinal candidas),Psyllium Powder(intestinal cleansing support),Bentonite Magma(absorbent aid for intestinal detoxification)
-Plus a ton of other supplements

Hi again Momtothree,

What I found interesting about your original post is that you mentioned joint pains as well as neck pains.  That is usually a result of an overload of toxins in your body and the best thing is to start a detox protocol.

What I have learned during all these years is that many don't give enough attention to detoxing when it should be given first priority as well as one's treatment protocol.   Darn, when those bb's are killed off, what is left over?  Toxins.  Simple.  When a person is sick their body is not capable of ridding their body of toxins, the body needs help.

Anyway, I wrote Detoxing Instructions in the Newbie Section and here is the link (scroll down to the center of the page):

Hope this helps,

Denise
