Since my primary source of discomfort right now is lumbar back pain, it hurts to walk, I decided to take a hot bath.  I felt worse than when I got in the tub, does anyone else have symptoms that worsen with a hot bath?  I did not add anything to the water. Thanks.

Hi again momtothree,

Hot water is not good when someone has an overload of toxins in their body.  Warm water is better (you can test the water by putting a thermometer to make sure it is not higher than 98 degrees).

Epsom salts draw out the toxins (after a good dry skin brushing) and hydrogen peroxide (both these items should be added to the warm water) adds oxygen into your blood stream which is a good thing.

Detoxing should be done every day, you can switch the detox baths with foot baths.  There is "outer detoxing" as well as "inner" detoxing.   Diet is also very important, no sugars, no bad carbs, etc.  Organic veggies and fruit are great!

I make Green Smoothies now and if you want the recipes, let me know.  Very healthy and they taste great too!

Hope this helps,
Denise

Deejavu, Do you suggest any particular fruits?  Do you avoid any?  The dietary suggestions I've seen seem similar to the yeast free diet that I did before Lyme.  On that diet I only ate lemons, limes, cranberries, granny smith apples, and my chiropractor thought blueberries should also be okay, so I added those.

Sorry this didn't pertain to the original question.  I did just take the epsom salt and hydrogen peroxide bath last night.  It did seem to help me, but my pain is tolerable.

I agree with Dee, Momtothree,

it is so important to open those elimination channels. If your body is loaded with toxins to begin with and your elimination organs (liver, kidney, etc..) are already working overtime, they cannot manage a sudden dump and the body re-uptakes those toxins. That is most likely what made you feel so badly.

We always encourage a slow beginning and that warmth vs. hot. When you finish the bath (make sure you are well hydrated before taking a bath, as well - lemon water!), stand slowly and rinse in cool water to prevent your blood from pooling in the joints. It stimulates the circulatory system and oxygenates the bloods.

It took our daughter a very long time before she could tolerate the baths; but this last year in particular (her third in treatment(natural at this stage of the battle) - going on 4) she tolerates it so much better. Acupuncture, Vit C IVs (Myers Cocktail), IV L-Glutathione, gentle lymphatic massage and homeopathic lymphomyostat drops have contributed tremendously to this improvement in flow. She was once yellow. Now, she is a 'lovely, ballerina pale'. Her battle continues; but we are grateful for each gift.

Blessings,
~d

Hi Hope,

How odd that a pharmacist has never heard of epsom salts. Most drug stores carry their brand of it on shelf. Epsom is explained here:

You may copy this to discuss w/your healtcare team or LLMD: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATid=100104&navAction=jump&navCount=1&id=prod849555

http://www.lymebook.com/sauna-for-lyme-disease - I do not know if you have this book; but there is a segment in chapter on Epsom Salt baths, as well.

There are cautions to consider and it is recommended to purchase a skin dry brush ( most natural health food stores carry them) and brush upwards in motion from extremities, working towards the heart.

If your doc agrees, begin very slowly. And be sure to hydrate well with lemon water to help w/PH balance.

Deejavu or I have a recipe that we can share if interested.

Blessings,
Sojourner

Hi all,

Turquoise Sky, as far as fruits are concerned, I personally prefer berries, especially blueberries and cranberries..  Lately I have been adding a banana to my green smoothies..  of course organic fruit is the best.

Sojourner, I'm so happy to hear that Heth is doing better!  She has come such a long way.   I remember our early conversations about lyme disease and you were first learning about it..   Isn't it wonderful to share what we have learned?  Please give Heth a big hug from me.

And yes, I loved Carly Simon in the 70's and I still continue to listen to her music today.  I even named one of my cat's after her!

Hope_29, here is a link about epsom salts, I just learned that I could use it on my face as an exfoliator!  Have to try that...
