1. Is it possible for Lyme related severe anxiety to begin within 2 months of the bite or is that too early?  An anxiety unlike any other. Feeling physical more than mental-- muscles tense, cramp, spasm.

2. Since deer carry the Lyme and give it to the ticks, do you think it would be possible to contract lyme from deer feces? One of my dogs rolls in it almost DAILY, so we bathe a lot, but you know my hands would come in contact w/ it.  I have not found a discussion on this anywhere.

3. WHY is the med profession, including ID Drs in such denial about Lyme? If a person has the symptoms and the spirochetes are present in the blood, what is their issue? Have they not looked at the spirochetes or do they believe the spirochetes don't mean anything? I understand the diagnosis is difficult and the tests unreliable. However, if a child aquires Lyme from it's mother, and is born w/ spirochetes in the blood and neurlogical issues, etc, WHY would they claim this is impossible??

I found the tick in my skin (lucky to have even seen it) the last week of June 2005. Initially only fever and felt like a viral infection starting. Had no rash, but MD tested me, not the tick, and it showed neg. All that summer I kept feeling like I was catching something, fatigued and my sinuses kept not feeling right. I don't remember muscle or brain issues from that time. It took about 2 months for my lymph nodes to swell to a degree that began the severe neck pain, that shot up my head and into my eyes. Two weeks of that pain later, I finally got treated for the Lyme. This time, I was being treated for a sinus infection, when we realized it was more than just that, due to the other symptoms present. So if this is from a new bite that I just didn't see, I'd say it was less than a month, that I began picking ticks off my dog.

I looked up the info you mentioned in your other post, and it answered some of my questions. Thank you!

Iam also interested in the answer to your question about the feces. I know mine has rolled in it too. He even tasted it once before I could stop him. He also had Lyme, the following year. I am keeping an eye on him, now. It's hard to tell if he is laying around because it's hot or if he doesn't feel well. He's been chewing on his paws, which was one of the signs, the first time, but he's got a lot more energy than me (not that I'm the one to compare with!). If it wasn't for him, I'd probably never have gone back outside! The day I got the tick bite (we didn't have him yet, and all the years we had our previous dog, she hardly ever had any ticks), I pulled a few weeds out of my front flower bed, took a shower that evening, and found the tick the next day.

I don't know what to say about your lifestyle, with the hiking, but I don't think we can avoid the possibility of ticks unless we and our dogs live in a bubble. Oh, and he was on frontline, when he got it. It kills the tick, but doesn't stop it from biting. If anyone knows of a safe repellant that actually works, I would love to know that too!

1. Yes, it is possible for Lyme related anxiety to start within 2 months of a tick bite.

2. I don't know. There is evidence that urine from an infected person or animal can transmit the bacteria to an uninfected person (if I remember right, someone in the Under Our Skin movie got Lyme this way...), but little is known about this (how it happens, whether it requires more than just skin contact - ie, a wound, rubbing one's eye, etc. may be necessary for transmission to occur, etc.). I do know that deer are not where ticks get infected from - rats are the primary source that the ticks get the Lyme bacteria from, and then the ticks pass the Lyme along when they bite people, deer and other animals.

3. The best way to answer your question is to recommend that you see "Under Our Skin" - this documentary explains the political and financial reasons for the ignorance amongst most all doctors that leads to lack of proper diagnosis and care of those with Lyme Disease.

I've read that a mix of Eucalyptus Oil and Rosemary Oil (ratio of 1:1) will repell ticks, but I haven't tried this myself.

Take care,

Thank you, Razzle. Is "Under Our Skin" available for sale yet? I have watched trailers, but not found a way to order the DVD.

During the season, I spray my clothes, neck, hair w/ Off, RELIGIOUSLY. Probably the reason I have not had MORE bites!

Hello Lymeunknown, I also have a dog who just thurned 3 and has anaplasmosis from a tick bite. She is allergic to tick collars. Even though she is on frontine plus I have to check her carefully after being outside--we have 8 acres in the hudson valley-new york the heart of tickcountry. She is in in-door dog but I am outside alot which is why I got lyme in the first place. Anyway... I found a vet who is holistic and gave me the name of a repellent called FLICKS. It is used for horses but it is all completely natural and she swares it repells ticks on her dog. I got some and used it this weekend. It is a concentrate to be mixed with water. I found it online-google it.

I don't think lyme feces will give them lyme but it could give them other things like worms viruses, etc.

I can give you a copy of under your skin if you can't get one. Send your email to me mine is in my profile. Blessings
