Low blood pressure has been one of my symptoms for a number of years, and after 10 or so episodes of syncopal seizures (basically, seizing because I fainted) a neurologist put me on florinef and salt pills. I've been reducing my florinef over time (at one pill per day now) but recently have had some blood pressure issues low enough for me to feel "funny." (104/68 this morning) I had been supplementing with magnesium (a pretty strong dose) last week, but stopped that and thought maybe that was why my BP was down. But today, it's down again. Does anyone have any experience with this on Zhang herbs? I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening now, but I hate feeling dizzy and weak all the time--not to mention I'm pretty useless like that!

Hi Mattylou,

I also have low BP (90/60) usually.  I just stopped Zhang's protocol after 6 months.  I didn't notice a problem with my BP while on it.  Maybe because I have been making an effort to stay hydrated.  I don't think I was staying hydrated enough before because I also have bladder issues (I think they are also LD related).

Hi Mattylou ~

I had very bad low blood pressure from lyme. I have been taking florinef for a number of years to stabalize my system. Lyme disease and the co-infections weaken the hypothamalus-pituatary-adrenal axis is the body which will mess your blood pressure. Dr B's guidlines adresses this briefly.

Did your dr tell you to stop taking the florinef?

I have also been on Zhang's herbs as well as other kinds of lyme treatment. In my case it was the lyme that caused the bp issues not the treatment.

Thanks for your replies. Kandinsky, my doctor told me to reduce my florinef as time passed and my BP got a little higher on its own (as I got older). So I did that as I got into the high blood pressure range, but maybe for now, it's a little too low. Id rather be a little too high than low in the BP department, so maybe I'll kick my florinef dose up by half a pill.

KO-LD, you're right about staying hydrated, too. I've had to be practically religious about that in the past, but bladder issues have probably led me to be less vigilant. Thanks for the reminder.
