Well, songs have been playing in my head long before I became infected with lyme, not when I would wake up but during the day and yes, it was very annoying!  For some reason it doesn't happen anymore, I don't know why.   I still wonder if I was born with lyme or became infected when I was a little girl but I will never know..

Maybe put on the radio when you wake up with some really good music or play a DVD..

Yes yes yes....so annoying. But you can sort of turn it around to your favor. Mine was lilke one song playing over and over.
I got a ipod and had my favorite songs of the day put on there.
When ever I would get seriously depressed...which was a lot. I would put my ipod on my head and blast myself. The words to the song are very important.
I liked the song that was by some rapper...lol
"Stronger" by Kayne West.
My daughters friend is going to show me how to share the link....hold on......
In any event since the brian is playing wierd tricks on you...learn how to use this to your advantage. But putting a song in your head that makes you strong....maybe a little pissed....lol...pissed is much better than sad or hopeless....
Older better faster stronger.....lol.....listen to it and see if it makes you want to kick some butt too...lol
One little boy who had been very ill with lyme had also wrote that his ipod playing his favorite music helped him alot.
Oddly, the music that I had to listen to over and over again on my ipod when I was sick is not stuff that I like to listen to now at all. It is way too aggessive and pissed off. But it worked great for me while I was struggling and fighting. And my sweet piano music would have made me jump off of my roof in tears.
so.....whatever works.
My kids here are shocked that the music that I liked..was so....um....rappy and has so much profanity in it. But what is sweet about being so darn ill with Lyme and every day you feel worse. So for me shouting it off with rap and hitting a hard beat made me feel better. The words to the song are about fighting to get better. And asking what the heck is going on....etc. It was fitting for me.

I kept thinking that I heard my cell phone ringing all the time for awhile. I would run to answer it and no one was there. Does anyone know what causes this, I mean I see its a Lyme symptom, but what is causing it? Are our brains misfiring  or what?? D

Hey Dowa and all -

had the cell phone thing the other way round and my brain was misfiring for sure ---ok that was me: got a new cell phone and checked the ringing tones on it; I liked one which I chose; whenever it was ringing I had absolutely no understanding that it was the phone but thought sth like "oh how nice that my brain plays me such a nice music - I obviously have a good day!"
This is no joke!!!! I got used to the sound and I was also sometimes singing with my cell phone .... yeah you are all welcome to laugh- I still have to roll around with laughter while I write this, seeing me walking/ being somewhere, phone ringing like mad and me singing with it!!!
I noticed it when it once was going to happen in the healthy food shop and there it did just somehow not fit into the shop - the music from my brain and me singing (I have to say I am a horrible singer)...yes, LOL.... so my brain decided to send me a little note saying that the music comes from outside....
This was the end of the "great ensemble" and I started to understand how come all those missed calls.

So my brain was a master in misfiring!!! dorit

Jelaine,

I think I had auditory hallucinations too. This was way before I knew I had Lyme. I would hear music playing and would keep checking my alarm clock thinking somehow it had came on. Nope, it wasn't on and nothing else was on either. I would ask my husband if he could hear it. He probably thought I was nuts! It only lasted a few months and has never happened again. Really weird.

To everyone else:

Yes, I get those songs playing in my head when I wake up too. It's been happening alot lately and sometimes it's songs I don't even know. I do know it is from a dream for me because I remeber the dream, then I wake up singing it in my head, LOL.

YES! Not everyday, but this happens a lot! The really CRAPPY part is that it's always songs that I HATE! And I can't get rid of it!

I also experience weird auditory hallucinations but no songs that I can remember. Then again my memory is so bad I may have and just don't remember it right now. lol Anyway, I sometimes think I hear the phone, doorbell or someone speaking. I also think certain sounds are coming from one direction when in fact they are actually coming from the complete opposite direction. Not sure if I'm explaining that one very well but in any event it's all very strange, annoying and sometimes scary.

Scorpio,

I get that too! I think the sound is coming from my room when it actually coming from my kids bathroom which is on the complete opposite side of my home. Very weird! I can also usually hear things that others can't. For instance, a certain sound outside. My husband and kids can't hear it unless they actually go outside but I can hear it from inside the house. I think Lyme makes all of our senses heightened.
